100% Low-Profile • No Attention Drawn
A. Calming the Body
Somatic Reset
Desk Box Breathing: Inhale 4s through nose, hold 4s, exhale 4s smoothly, hold 4s. Keep shoulders still.
Under-Desk Isometric Press: Plant feet flat; press heels firmly into floor and fists into desk underside for 5s, then exhale and release tension.
3-3 Sensory Grounding: Silently spot 3 neutral objects in the room and touch 3 distinct textures right at your desk (wood, metal, paper).
B. Managing Anger
The Circuit Breaker
The 6-Second Lockdown: Place palms flat on desk. Forbid your mouth and hands from acting until you count backward from 6 to 1.
Name the Impulse: Mentally say: "I want to lash out / slam this. That is anger talking, not my plan."
Neutral Focal Shift: Take your eyes completely off the trigger. Stare at a neutral point (clock, doorframe) for 15 quiet seconds.
C. Handling Frustration
Chunk & Reframe
The Scratch-Paper Shield: Slide blank paper over the page so you only see the single line or problem in front of you. Hide the rest.
The 2-Minute Micro-Sprint: Don't try to finish the assignment. Commit to writing just 1 single sentence or calculating 1 step.
Self-Talk Upgrade: Replace "I can't do this stupid work" with "This is irritating right now, but I can handle 1 step."
D. Expressing Needs
Discreet Advocacy
The Sticky Note Flare: Stick a small note on your desk corner: "Stuck on #2" or "Need 2 min brain break." Teacher checks quietly.
Desk Item Signal: Turn your pencil horizontally or close your notebook as a silent pre-arranged code that you need help.
Low-Key Whisper Check-In: When the teacher circulates near your row, ask: "Can you give me a starting hint on this first step?"
Step 3: My Reset Commitment (Test for 3 Minutes)
