Freeze in Emotion Poses
Feeling #1 Spark: Joy & Delight
The Joy Spark
When joy bursts in, your energy wants to rise up and burst outward!
Chest feels light, open, and buoyant
Face cheeks lift, eyes widen with spark
Feet want to hop, skip, or bounce
Movement Challenge
The Popcorn Jump!
Crouch down low like an unpopped kernel... Count down 3, 2, 1... Pop straight up into the air with arms spread wide!
Feel your ribs expand and heart flutter fast!
Where do you feel joy first? (Chest • Hands • Legs • Smile)
Feeling #2 Spark: Anger & Frustration
The Heat Wave
Anger creates sudden pressure, heat, and locked muscles ready to defend or push back.
Face turns warm; jaw clenches shut
Hands squeeze tight into clenched fists
Shoulders hike up towards ears like armor
Movement Challenge
The Volcano Squeeze & Release
Squeeze your fists and tense your shoulders for 4 seconds (building volcano pressure)... then release with an exhale: “HA!”
Notice how the heat softens when hands open flat.
Where does heat get stuck for you? (Fists • Jaw • Stomach • Forehead)
Feeling #3 Spark: Sadness & Fatigue
Heavy Gravity
Sadness pulls your energy downward, like wearing a heavy weighted winter coat.
Eyes feel watery, stung, or droopy
Head and chin dip forward toward chest
Legs feel like walking through deep mud
Movement Challenge
The Heavy Ragdoll Fold
Dangle your arms and bend forward at your hips. Let your head hang loose like cooked spaghetti noodles. Sway gently left and right.
Slowly roll up one vertebra at a time to reset.
How does your spine feel during heavy moments? (Curved • Sinking • Slow)
Feeling #4 Spark: Calm & Grounded
The Steady Anchor
Calm is balanced stillness. You are alert, grounded, and ready to choose your next move.
Breathing feels slow, smooth, and even
Both feet press firmly flat against the floor
Muscles are soft, relaxed, and ready
Movement Challenge
The Mountain Tree Anchor
Root your feet deep like tree roots. Bring hands together at your heart. Hold strong against a gentle gust of wind!
Notice the peaceful, steady rhythm in your chest.
Week 1 Mission: Catch your body clues before they become big outbursts!
Body Clues Circuit Guide Teacher Facilitation Guide Week 1 of 4 • 30 Minutes
Body Clues & Sparks Circuit
Focus: Somatic Clues & Primary Feelings
Target: Kinesthetic / Active Learners
Instructional Objective
Student will physically demonstrate and identify the internal bodily cues (heart rate, muscle tension, breath rate, posture) associated with Joy, Anger, Sadness, and Calm through structured movement stations.
Movement Setup
Clear a 6x6 ft open floor area. Provide 4 colored poly-spots or tape squares (Yellow, Red, Blue, Green).
30-Minute Step-by-Step Pacing Protocol
00–05 MIN
Active Sensor Check-In & Pulse Baseline
Start with a 60-second whole-body shakeout (arms, legs, head, toes). Direct student to press right hand firmly over chest. Model: "Is your motor idling slow like a parked car, or humming fast?" Introduce the session concept: our bodies give us signals seconds before our thoughts catch up.
05–15 MIN
The 4-Spot Emotion Circuit (Movement Station Exploration)
Guide the student through 4 physical spots, calling out an emotion prompt at each spot:
Yellow Spot (Joy): 5 Popcorn Hops. Focus on feeling ribs open, light bouncy toes, and bubbling chest.
Red Spot (Anger): Volcano clench fists (hold 3s), exhale loud "HA!". Feel jaw tension and forearm stiffness.
Blue Spot (Sadness): Slow ragdoll roll-down, heavy shoulders, dragging feet. Feel gravity pulling downward.
Green Spot (Calm): Mountain pose, palms together, 3 deep belly breaths. Feel floor solid under heels.
15–23 MIN
Freeze-Frame Detective Game
Teacher plays a rhythmic drumbeat or claps hands. Student jogs/skips in place. When music stops, teacher calls out: "Body Clue: Tight fists and hot cheeks!" Student must quickly sprint to the matching spot (Red) and freeze in the Anger pose. Repeat for all 4 feeling clues.
23–30 MIN
Somatic Mapping & Cool Down Debrief
Transition to table/floor clipboard. Hand student the Body Signal Map Worksheet . Guide them to color or mark where their personal warning lights flash first. End with 3 synchronized grounding wall-presses.
Observational Clues
Watch if student struggles to shift out of high arousal (Anger/Joy).
Note whether physical tension stays locked in hands or shoulders.
Encourage verbalization of physical sensations (e.g. "buzzy", "stiff").

My Personal Warning Signal: When I start to feel upset or hyper, the first thing I notice in my body is: Energy Engine Slides Week 2 • 30 Min Motion Emotion Mastery
Engine Tachometer Active
Energy Engine Speeds
Just like a racecar, your body has internal gears. What speed is your engine revving at right now?
Low Gear (1st)
Sluggish • Tired • Sad
Cruise Gear (3rd)
Focused • Steady • Ready
Redline Gear (5th)
Explosive • Hyper • Furious
Gear 1 RPM: Under 1,000 • Low Battery
The Low Gear Idle
Your engine is sputtering or running out of fuel. Movement feels slow and sticky.
Feelings: Bored, lonely, exhausted, discouraged
Body Cues: Slumped back, heavy yawns, dragging feet
Tempo Challenge
The Slow-Motion Sloth
Cross the room moving at 0.5x speed. Every step takes 5 full seconds. Let your shoulders hang loose.
Notice how hard it is to pay attention when energy is too low.
How do we kickstart our engine out of low gear? (Stomp • Jump • Drink Water)
Gear 3 RPM: 3,000 • The Sweet Spot
The Cruise Control
The engine runs smoothly with full steering control. You are focused, alert, and capable.
Feelings: Calm confidence, focused curiosity, happy
Body Cues: Balanced breathing, upright spine, clear vision
Tempo Challenge
The Panther Stalk
Walk with purposeful, silent precision. Stop on a dime when the teacher says “PAUSE”. Maintain perfect balance on one foot!
Notice how your mind feels clear and in command.
This is our best gear for learning, sports practice, and making decisions!
Gear 5 RPM: 7,000+ • Redline Overdrive
The Redline Spinout
The pedal is stuck to the metal. The engine is overheating and steering becomes impossible!
Feelings: Furious rage, manic excitement, terrified panic
Body Cues: Racing heart, shallow gasps, shaking hands
Tempo Challenge
The Speed Shifter Brake
Run in place with lightning fast high knees for 6 seconds... then slam both feet into the floor and drop hands onto thighs: “BRAKE!”
Feel how your body wants to keep running even after braking.
Redline isn't "bad"—it's a warning signal that says: "Apply brakes now!"
Driver Test Week 2 Synthesis
You Are the Driver
Feelings change your motor speed automatically, but as the driver, you can choose which gear to shift into!

Triggers make the body instantly tense up
Your brain thinks: “Alert! Protect yourself!”
Kinesthetic Simulation
The Direction Switch!
Jog forward towards the wall... When the coach yells “DETOUR!”, spin 180° on one foot and drop into a defensive crouch!
Notice the instant reflex in your calves and stomach.
Our bodies react before our brains can explain why!
Sensory Clues Catching the Tripwire
Three Common Tripwires
These physical sensations tell you: "Shift in Progress!"
The Breath Hold
You stop breathing and gasp. Chest locks tight like a locked trunk.
The White Knuckle
Fingers grip a pencil or ball with crushing force. Wrists stiffen up.
The Gut Drop
A sudden flutter or knot drops into your belly like a falling elevator.
Which tripwire happens to you most often when plans change?
Technique The Somatic Pivot Move
The 3-Second Pivot
When the tripwire fires, you don't have to explode into Gear 5. Perform the 3-step physical pivot:
1 PLANT: Stomp both feet flat on the ground
2 PURSE: Blow out birthday candle breath
3 PIVOT: Turn shoulders toward the new target
Coach Drill
Plant-Purse-Pivot Drill
Let’s practice 3 rapid repetitions together right now! Jump up, hear the whistle, then: PLANT! PURSE! PIVOT!
You just controlled your engine speed in under 3 seconds!
