1. Warm-Up: How Do You Feel?
SAY:
"Good morning/afternoon everyone! To kick things off today, I want us to take a quick mental check-in. On the Mindfulness Warm-Up sheet or just in your mind, quickly jot down or acknowledge one word or a short phrase that describes how you are feeling right now. No need to overthink it, just whatever comes to mind first. You have about 30 seconds."
SAY:
"Okay, thank you for doing that. Would anyone like to briefly share what they noticed about their current state? No pressure at all, but sometimes just acknowledging how we feel can be the first step to feeling better."
Note: Allow 1-2 students to share if comfortable. Connect their responses to the idea of self-awareness.

2. Introduction to Mindfulness
Display Slide 2: "What is Mindfulness?"
"So, what exactly is it? Mindfulness is essentially paying attention to the present moment, on purpose, and without judgment. It's about noticing your thoughts, your feelings, and your body sensations as they happen, right now. It's not about emptying your mind, but simply observing what's there, like watching clouds float by."
Display Slide 3: "Why Practice Mindfulness?"
"Think about it: how many times have you felt stressed before a test, or gotten into an argument because you reacted too quickly? Mindfulness can give you that extra second to choose how you want to respond."
10 Min
3. Guided Breathing Practice
Display Slide 5: "Guided Breathing Exercise"
"Now, let's try a short guided breathing exercise together. I invite you to find a comfortable position in your chair... gently close your eyes, or you can simply lower your gaze to the floor. The goal isn't to clear your mind, but simply to observe."
"Notice the sensation of the air entering your nostrils, filling your lungs, and then slowly leaving your body... As you continue to breathe, you might notice your mind starting to wander. That's completely normal. When you realize your mind has drifted, simply and gently guide your attention back to your breath."
[ PAUSE FOR 3-5 MINUTES OF QUIET BREATHING ]
"What did you notice during that short practice? Was it easy or challenging to keep your focus? Did anyone notice any changes in how their body or mind felt?"
5 Min
4. Reflection and Discussion
"I'd like you to take a moment to reflect a bit deeper. 'When might you use this practice in your daily life? How could mindfulness help you?'"
5 Min
5. Cool-Down: One Word Reflection
"On your cool-down slip, write down one word or a short phrase that describes your main takeaway or how you feel now. Thank you for your engagement today. Remember, your breath is a tool you always have access to."
