The Changing Caterpillar
Teacher: "Hello, everyone! Today, we're going to read a very special story about a little creature who goes through a big change. Has anyone ever seen a caterpillar before? What about a butterfly?"

Googly eyes (2 per student)
Glue sticks

The Meaning
This activity helps us think about how things change , just like our caterpillar friend! As we build the caterpillar, we'll talk about how it grows and what it will become.
How to Build Your Caterpillar

Make the First Loop
Take a paper strip. Glue one end to the other to make a circle! This is the head.

Chain the Body
TEACHER TIP
Thread a new strip through the loop and glue it. Repeat until your caterpillar is long!
Ask: "How is our caterpillar growing longer and changing?"

Add the Details
Glue on your pipe-cleaner antennae and googly eyes. Draw a big happy smile!
Let it Change!
Hold up your caterpillar! One day, this crawling friend will be a beautiful butterfly. Even small things can make big, beautiful changes!
