Guard Rails are Success
CULTURE • EXPECTATIONS • VALUES
WITHOUT OUR CULTURE, EXPECTATIONS, & VALUES
NO GUARD RAILS = RISK
UNSAFE PATH
Without guidelines, driving becomes incredibly hazardous. Distractions, poor choices, and unsafe maneuvers lead directly to regrets.
POOR CHOICES. DISTRACTIONS. REGRETS.
WITH OUR CULTURE, EXPECTATIONS, & VALUES
GUARD RAILS = SUCCESS
SAFE HIGHWAY
Expectations are not barriers; they protect drivers and keep them focused, traveling fast and securely on the road to success.
GOOD CHOICES. FOCUS. SUCCESS.
OUR CULTURE, EXPECTATIONS, & VALUES ARE THE GUARD RAILS THAT KEEP US ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS!

Middle school requires self-management. Keeping an organized locker ensures you are on time for every period.
- Backpacks and coats must remain in your locker at all times.
- Use only the locker assigned directly to you. No sharing!
- NEVER share your lock combination with anyone!
Device Lock-down
Cell Phones & AirPods must remain in your locker, powered off, throughout the entire school day (from homeroom to the dismissal bell).
Keep devices powered completely off to save battery and avoid distraction alerts.

INDIAN CREEK MIDDLE SCHOOL
Welcome Presentation Teacher Guide
Day 1 Expectations
Day 1 Objective: Establish classroom climate. Guide students through the Welcome Slides, outline hallway/locker expectations, introduce cultural values, and lead community reflection.
1
Welcome & Mission (Slides 1-2) • 5 Min
Script: "Welcome to Indian Creek! This year, we are focused on building our Tribe. Every person in this room belongs here, and every single one of you is a critical part of our school family. Our mission is to engage every single student, every single day."
Action: Set an enthusiastic, encouraging tone. Welcome each student directly.
2
Data & Focus Goals (Slides 3-5) • 7 Min
Script: "Last year, Braves did some amazing things with attendance and behaviors! This year, we are aiming to get 1% better every single day. That doesn't mean you have to be perfect; it means making tiny adjustments to improve your habits."
Action: Ask students to share what "1% better daily" means in plain language.
3
Guard Rails & TRIBE Values (Slides 6-8) • 8 Min
Script: "Imagine driving down a dangerous cliff without guard rails. That is highly risky. Expectations like locker rules, hallway routines, and cell phone policies are the guard rails. They aren't here to hold you back; they are here to keep you safe and moving fast toward success."
Have students read each letter of T-R-I-B-E aloud together. Prompt active listening during Slide 8 presentation.
4
Logistics, Schedule, & Lunch Shifts (Slides 9-17) • 10 Min
Script: "Now let's look at day-to-day operations. Phones and AirPods must be powered down in lockers. For passes, we use the school-wide Digital Pass System directly on your Chromebooks. On Slide 12, check your 4th period teacher to confirm whether you eat in the 1st Lunch Shift or the 2nd Lunch Shift."
Action: Help students confirm their exact lunch shifts using Slide 12. Instruct students to write down their locker assignments, hallway zones, and lunch shifts in their notebooks.
Required Materials:
- Orientation welcome slide deck
- Student notebooks / Chromebooks
Critical Reminders:
- Ensure students bookmark the Digital Pass on their Chromebooks.
- Reinforce locker security and hallway guidelines.
- Test the class on what TRIBE means.
