3. Flexible Mind
If told "Wait" or "Not now": reply calmly "Okay, I can wait!"
Min 7–11
Guided Practice: "Voice Switch" Quick Roleplay
Practice
Give 2 rapid scenarios. Students show the "reset sign" (two fingers tapping chest) if teacher uses a whine, then coach the teacher into a strong voice:
Scenario A: Needing a turn on the swing ("Gimme turnnn!" → "Can I please have next turn?")
Scenario B: Snack time denied ("It's not snack time yet." → "Okay, I'll wait until 10:00.")
Min 11–14
Independent Activity: Strong Voices Practice Sheet
Apply
Distribute the 1-page activity sheet. Students identify clear voice vs whining speech bubbles, circle the calm request words, and check flexible response choices.
Min 14–15
Closing Badge & Voice Power Pledge
Wrap Up
Choral chant with hand over chest: "Breathe in slow, stand up tall, my strong voice can say it all!" Students earn their badge.
In-the-Moment Coaching Script (When Whining Starts)
× Don't say: "Stop whining right now!" or give in to baby requests.
✓ Say: "I can't hear your words when they are hidden in a whine. Take one belly breath and try with your strong voice."
Quick Calming Cue:
Put hands on hips, count 3-2-1 silent breath, and nod warmly when their real, natural voice returns. Praise immediately: "Thank you for using your clear, strong voice!"
