Welcome & Circle Agreements
10 Minutes
Facilitator Script (Warm Welcome)
"Welcome to our circle! In this space, everyone has a place, every voice matters, and we are here to have fun and get to know the awesome people in this room."
1. Respectful Ears
One speaker at a time; show the talker that their ideas are valued.
2. Kind Words & Cheers
We celebrate unique answers. Put-downs or teasing are left at the door.
3. The "Pass for Now" Rule
Any child may pass and be invited back later—zero pressure participation.

Activity: "Name & Superpower Spark"
15 Minutes
Facilitation Flow: Seat children knee-to-knee in a visible circle. Facilitator rolls or gently tosses a soft mascot to model first. Each child shares their name and answers one comfortable interest prompt.
Option A: High-Energy Prompts
- • "My name is... and my favorite weekend activity is..."
- • "My name is... and my imaginary pet would be a..."
- • "My name is... and the snack I could eat forever is..."
Option B: Low-Pressure / Shy Friendly
- • "My name is... and my favorite color is..."
- • "My name is... and I would rather fly or breathe underwater?"
- • Non-Verbal Alternative: Show thumbs-up or point to prompt chart.
Group Reinforcement Chant: After each child shares, the whole group responds together: "Welcome, [Name]! Glad you're here!" with two claps.

Part II: Connection & Closing Friendship, Strengths & Belonging Focus
Remaining Time: 25 Mins
3
Activity: "The Common Ground Step-In"
15 Minutes
Goal: Visually and kinesthetically demonstrate that every child shares common ground with peers while appreciating differences that make each person unique.
How It Works
Children stand in a circle. Facilitator reads prompt statements. If the statement fits them, children take one step forward into the circle, give each other a high-five or wave, and look around to see who stepped with them.
Similarity & Shared Likes
- • "Step in if you love listening to music or dancing."
- • "Step in if you have ever felt nervous on the first day."
- • "Step in if you like building things (Lego, art, blocks)."
Unique Strengths & Differences
- • "Step in if you speak or understand more than one language."
- • "Step in if you are a great listener when a friend is sad."
- • "Step in if you like trying food that smells unusual!"
Facilitator Reflection Prompt: "Look at how many times we stepped in together. Even when you're the only one who stepped in, you gave our circle something totally unique that nobody else brought!"
4
Closing Ritual: "The Friendship Affirmation"
10 Minutes
Closing Cheer & Clap: Have everyone extend their hands toward the center of the circle (creating a team wheel).
"We are different, we are strong, in this circle we belong! 1, 2, 3—TEAM!"
Conclude with a collective hands-up cheer and smile.
Take-Home Token
Give each child a sticker or name card to keep with their stated superpower/strength written on it.
"My Circle Power: [Kindness / Energy / Art]"
Facilitator Troubleshooting & In-the-Moment Support
Reluctant / Shy Child
Never force. Say: "We're glad you're listening with us. You can pass or just whisper to me."
Dominating Speaker
Validate enthusiastically, then redirect: "Great energy! Let's pass the ball to share the spotlight."
Off-Topic Answers
Appreciate the creativity: "Fun idea! That connects to our imagination. Next up is..."
