The Amazing Giant Panda
The giant panda is one of the most beloved animals in the world. Native to the mountain forests of Sichuan province in China, these black-and-white bears were first documented by French missionary Armand David in 1869.
Adult pandas can weigh up to 160 kilograms and typically live for about 20 years in the wild. They are specialists in bamboo, which makes up 99% of their diet, and they spend around 10–16 hours a day eating.
Currently, there are an estimated 2,000 giant pandas left in the wild. Thanks to conservation efforts, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) lists them as Vulnerable.

The Amazing Giant Panda
Giant pandas are a species of bear found in the high mountain ranges of Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces in China. Although local villagers had long known about them, French naturalist Jean Pierre Armand David officially described the panda in 1870.
Adult pandas usually weigh between 100 and 150 kilograms and may live up to 25 years in their natural habitat. Bamboo makes up about 95% of their diet, and pandas often spend 12 hours a day feeding.
Recent surveys estimate around 1,800 pandas roam the wild. After decades of protective measures—such as a national hunting ban introduced in 1973—the IUCN previously classified pandas as Endangered, though they remain at risk.
