The Hook: New Case!
Tell students they have been promoted to Social Detectives . Their job is to notice "clues" about how others feel. Introduce the core question: "Does this behavior make people feel calm or confused?"

Direct Instruction: The 2 E's
Use the Social Detective Slides to define:
Expected: Things we do that follow the rules and make people feel comfortable. (Raising hand, kind words).Unexpected: Things we do that surprise people in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable or confused. (Yelling out, interrupting).

Evidence Sorting (Activity)
Distribute the Behavior Sort Activity . Students will cut out action cards and glue them into the correct "Case File" (Expected vs. Unexpected). Focus specifically on the target behaviors: being rude, yelling out, and interrupting.

Independent Investigation
Students complete the Expected or Unexpected Worksheet to demonstrate their understanding of specific scenarios.
