What is a Personal Space Bubble?
Concept
An Invisible Bubble
Imagine an invisible protective bubble around your entire body. Everyone has their very own bubble!
The Arm's Length Rule
Hold out your arm gently. If you can touch someone without moving, you might be popping their bubble!
Bubble Rule #1
"My hands, feet, and objects stay inside my bubble."
Try it now: Reach arms out gently to check your space!
When we protect each other's bubbles, our classroom feels calm and safe.
What Do Safe Hands & Feet Look Like?
Body Check
Safe Hands Can...
Rest quietly in your lap
Stay gently tucked in your pockets
Hold onto your own book or supply
Wave hello or give a gentle thumbs up
Hands stay on your own things!
Safe Feet Can...
Stay flat on the floor under your desk
Fold criss-cross in your carpet square
Walk at a calm pace in the hallway
Stay away from tripping classmates
Feet stay planted in your own zone!
Remember: Touching others without permission can pop their safe bubble!
Bubble Protectors vs. Bubble Poppers
Comparison
Bubble Protectors
Gives room: Leaves space when walking or sitting.
Asks first: "May I give you a high five?"

Crowding in line: Standing too close behind a peer.
Kicking or nudging: Feet touching others' chairs.

The 4 Safe Alternatives
Action Tools
1. Ask with Words
Say: "May I have a turn when you finish?" or "Please stop, I don't like that."
2. Wait Your Turn
Count to 10, cheer for your friend, or try a different activity while you wait.
3. Move Away
Take 3 steps back. Find another spot on the playground or carpet to protect your peace.
4. Ask an Adult for Help
If someone is unsafe or won't listen to your words, tell a teacher right away!
