01: PHYSICAL TELEMETRY
Before you blow up, your body sends out warning signals. Your internal temperature rises before the steam comes out. If you catch these early, you can stay in control.
Check all that apply when you feel anger rising:
Clenched fists or jaw
Racing heart / Chest tightness
Hot face or sweating
Shaky hands / Restlessness
"Tunnel vision" (losing focus)
Sensor Map
Mark where you feel the "heat".
PRO-TIP: The 5-Second Window
Once you notice a physical sign, you have about 5 seconds to choose a "Cool Down" action before your "Caveman Brain" takes over. Use that window to take one deep breath.
02: THE FEEDBACK LOOP
Anger isn't just an emotion; it's a cycle. To break it, you need to understand how your thoughts fuel your feelings, which then drive your actions.
THOUGHTS
FEELINGS
ACTIONS
Deconstruct a Recent Glitch
Think of a time you got angry this week. Break it down:
1. THE TRIGGER (What happened?)
2. THE AUTO-THOUGHT (What did you tell yourself?)
3. THE ACTION (How did you react?)
THE REWIRE:
If you changed your THOUGHT in step 2 to something more neutral, how would your ACTION have changed?
03: SYSTEM GLITCHES (TRAPS)
Sometimes our brain takes shortcuts that lead straight to anger. These are "System Glitches." Identify them to stop them.
MIND READING
Assuming you know what someone else is thinking (usually negative).
CATASTROPHIZING
Blowing things out of proportion; expecting the absolute worst.
SHOULD-ING
Using rigid rules about how people "should" behave.
LABELING
Calling yourself or others "losers" instead of judging the act.
Trap Hunting
Write a recent "Glitchy Thought" and its "Logic Patch."
Glitchy Thought (The Trap)
Logic Patch (The Truth)
04: SIGNAL PROCESSING
Communication is like data transfer. When the signal gets noisy (yelling), the message is lost. To be heard, you need a clean signal.
The "I" Statement Protocol
"I" statements keep the focus on the problem, not the person. This prevents defensiveness.
"I feel _____ when _____ because _____. I would like _____."
Practice the Protocol
SCENARIO 1: Your friend cancels plans at the last minute again.
Don't say: "You're so flaky, you don't care about my time!"
SCENARIO 2: A teacher corrects you in front of the whole class.
Don't say: "Stop picking on me, I didn't do anything!"
SCENARIO 3: Your sibling uses your things without asking.
Don't say: "You're a thief, stay out of my room!"
05: MASTER CONTROL PLAN
This is your final deployment strategy. When the system starts to overheat, follow these steps to prevent a total crash.
My Cool-Down Protocol
1
Safe Exit Strategy
Where can I go to chill out for 10 minutes?
2
Sensory Grounding
List 3 things you can see or hear right now.
3
Internal Command
One thing I can tell myself (e.g., "Stay chill").
4
Support Contact
Who can I talk to once I am calm?
Commitment to the Blueprint
Real strength is staying calm when everyone else expects you to break. It's the ultimate control.
