Instructional Guide
1
Introduction & Warm-Up (5 Minutes)
Start by framing the session as a "superhero training." Use the Warm-Up Activity to focus students on positive personal moments from the last 24 hours.
"We aren't talking about flying—we're talking about the powers you already use every day."
2
What are Strengths? (10 Minutes)
Use Slides 1-3. Transition from the idea of sci-fi powers to "real-life" powers like kindness, problem-solving, and humor. Use the Discussion Guide to prompt examples of "quiet strengths" versus "loud strengths."
3
Reading & Reflection (15 Minutes)
Hand out the reading "Meet Your Inner Superheroes." After reading, students fill out Part 1 of the "My Strength Shield" worksheet to identify character strengths. This external identification helps them practice before looking at themselves.
4
Identifying Personal Strengths (15 Minutes)
Students complete the rest of the worksheet. To keep energy high, incorporate the Scavenger Hunt mid-way through. Encourage them to find strengths in their environment without naming names.
Teacher Tip
Circulate and provide affirmations. "I noticed how patient you were while waiting—that's a strength!"
Differentiation
Provide a word bank of strengths for students who find brainstorming difficult.
5
Sharing & Celebration (10 Minutes)
Facilitate the Strength Sharing Circle. Keep the atmosphere supportive. If time permits, run a quick round of Strength Charades to end on a fun, high-energy note.
6
Wrap-Up & Cool-Down (5 Minutes)
Conclude with the "One Strength, One Star" activity. Assign the optional take-home project for students who want to explore their story further.

Everyone has unique abilities that make them special. Read about how these students used their "superpowers" to make a difference in their school.
The Story of Maya and Leo
Maya loved to draw. Her sketchbook was always full of colorful creatures and fantastic landscapes. When her class was asked to create a poster for the school talent show, everyone felt a bit stuck. "How will we make it exciting?" asked one classmate.
Maya, with her creativity, immediately saw a solution. She sketched out a vibrant design with musical notes leaping off the page and dancing characters. Her classmates were amazed! Maya wasn't just good at drawing; she was a visionary who could bring ideas to life.
Leo, on the other hand, was known for always knowing how to cheer people up. One day, a new student, Sarah, joined their class. Sarah looked nervous and sat alone during lunch. But Leo, with his kindness and empathy, walked over and asked if she wanted to join his group. He introduced her to everyone and made sure she felt included. Leo had a superpower of connection.
The Playground Problem
During recess, a group of younger students was arguing over the swings. It was getting loud, and no one was listening. Liam and Chloe, who were in 5th grade, saw what was happening.
Liam, a natural problem-solver, carefully listened to each side. He suggested a timer so everyone could have a turn. Chloe, with her amazing communication skills, clearly explained Liam's idea to the younger kids, making sure they understood and agreed. Together, their strengths helped bring peace back to the playground. They were peacemakers.
The Big Science Project
The deadline for the big science project was approaching fast. Their group had collected a lot of information, but it was a jumbled mess! Noah was usually quiet, but when it came to organizing, he was a star.
With his incredible organizational skills and attention to detail, Noah took all the notes, sorted them, and created a clear plan. Sofia, meanwhile, was great at explaining complex ideas. With her clarity and presentation skills, she helped craft the words for their presentation. Noah was the architect of their project, and Sofia was the storyteller.
Your Turn to Reflect
Each of these students used their unique strengths to help themselves and others. Think about the following:
