Teacher Guide
Teacher Script: "Alright everyone, it's time to put our apology skills into practice! We are going to work in pairs or small groups. I will give you a scenario, and I want you to act out a sincere apology using all five steps we just learned. Remember, an apology is about showing you understand, taking responsibility, and trying to make things right. Let's try to be super thoughtful and kind to our partners!"
1 Scenario: The Accidental Bump
Context: One person accidentally bumps into another, making them drop their drawing.
Student A (The Bumper): "Oh no! I am so sorry for bumping into you and making you drop your drawing."
Student A: "I realize that must have made you feel upset and frustrated because you were working so hard on it."
Student A: "It was my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going."
Student A: "Is there anything I can do to help you fix your drawing, or do you want to draw something new together?"
Student A: "Next time, I will try to be more careful and watch where I'm walking."
2 Scenario: The Unkind Words
Context: One person said something unkind during playtime.
Student B (The Speaker): "I am sorry for calling you 'slow' when we were playing tag."
Student B: "I realize that must have made you feel really hurt and sad."
Student B: "It was wrong of me to say that. My words were not kind."
Student B: "Is there anything I can do to make you feel better? Maybe we can play a different game you like?"
Student B: "Next time, I will think before I speak and remember to use kind words."
3 Scenario: Taking Without Asking
Context: One friend took another friend's toy without asking first.
Student A (The Taker): "I am sorry for taking your red truck without asking."
Student A: "I know that probably made you feel frustrated and maybe a little angry that I just took it."
Student A: "It was wrong of me to take your toy without your permission."
Student A: "Here's your truck back. Can I ask to play with it now, or would you like to play with it by yourself for a bit?"
"Next time, I will always ask you before I play with your toys."
