Mission Timeline
1
Introduction: The Professional Edge
5 MIN
Introduce the lesson and explain the importance of teamwork in job-related tasks.
Briefly describe the upcoming puzzles and challenges as "Simulated Workplace Trials."
Discuss the real-world applicability: how employers value collective intelligence over individual speed.
2
Phase One: Group Activity
25 MIN
Divide students into small groups of 3-5.
Distribute the Challenge Pack Handout .
Each group works through three puzzles: Priority, Resource Allocation, and Decision Making.
Teacher Role: Circulate to offer guidance. Do not solve the puzzles for them; ask probing questions like "Why did you rank this as #1?" or "What happens if this resource runs out?"
3
Phase Two: Reflection & Assessment
10 MIN
Bring the class back together for a whole-group reflection session.
Use the Team Efficiency Report Rubric to evaluate performance.
Facilitate discussion: "Which puzzle required the most compromise?" or "How did your team handle conflicting ideas?"
Key Discussion Questions
• What strategies worked well for your team?
• Were there any puzzles that were particularly challenging? Why?
• How can the skills learned today be applied to a job setting?
• How did you decide on a final answer when people disagreed?

Puzzle of Priorities
Objective: Rank tasks by urgency and importance.
Scenario: You are the planning team for "TechHub’s Grand Opening." It is 9:00 AM on opening day. The doors open at 11:00 AM. As a group, rank these tasks from 1 (Must do now) to 6 (Can wait or delegate).
The catering delivery just arrived, but the lobby tables are still in storage.
A guest speaker called saying they are lost and need directions to the building.
The CEO wants a final review of the welcome speech slides.
The front door lock is sticking and takes 30 seconds to open with the key.
A local reporter arrived early and is asking for an unscripted interview.
Social media needs a "Behind the Scenes" photo post to build hype.
Team Logic
Briefly explain why your #1 task was the top priority.
02
Resource Allocation Challenge
Objective: Maximize value with a limited budget.
Scenario:
Your startup team has $1,000 to set up a new collaborative workspace. You must choose items that balance productivity, comfort, and technology. You cannot exceed the budget!
High-Speed Wi-Fi Router $250
4 Ergonomic Office Chairs $400
Large Wall Whiteboard $150
Coffee Machine & Supplies $100
Second-hand Projector $200
Sound-damping Panels $300
Mini-Fridge for Snacks $150
Your Selections
TOTAL $ _________
The Compromise
Which item did your team want but ultimately decide NOT to buy? Why was it cut?
03
Team Decision Making
Objective: Reach consensus on a complex personnel issue.
The Scenario: Your team manages a customer service department. A long-time employee, Sam, is excellent with customers but consistently arrives 15 minutes late to their shift. This causes other team members to stay late to cover for them, leading to frustration and burnout in the rest of the team.
Options to Consider:
Option A: Strictly enforce the lateness policy and issue a formal warning. Risk: Losing a high-performer.
Option B: Change Sam's shift to start 30 minutes later. Risk: Others might feel this is unfair treatment.
