Objective

Duration
20–30 Minutes
Skills
Active Listening, Turn-taking, Finding Common Ground.
1 Setup & Warm-up (5 mins)
Briefly explain the goal: "Today we're learning more about each other. There are no right or wrong answers, just your own style!"
Facilitator Tip: Set group norms first. Remind students that "different" is interesting, not "weird."
2 Choice Showdown (10 mins)
Distribute the Choice Showdown Worksheet. Give students 5 minutes to circle their choices silently. If they can't decide, tell them to pick the one they'd choose today.
Encourage them to spend extra time on the "The Big Why" section at the bottom.
3 The Circle Share (15 mins)
Go around the circle and have each student share their answer to one specific pair from the sheet.
- The Prompt: "I chose [Option A] because [Reason]."
- The Listening Check: After someone shares, ask the group: "Raise your hand if you chose the same thing. Raise your hand if you chose something different."
- Follow-up Question: "What's one thing you heard [Name] say that was interesting?"
Discussion Prompts
Observation
"Was there a choice where almost everyone picked the same thing? Why do you think that is?"
Perspective
"Did anyone's 'Why' make you think about a choice differently?"
