Students will be able to identify and express various emotions by categorizing them into a simple, color-coded four-zone system (Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red).

Emotional intelligence is a crucial life skill. This tool provides 2nd graders with a visual framework for healthy self-awareness and social interaction.

Open with a check-in: "How are you feeling today?" Explain that feelings change like the weather. Show the Title Slide to kick off the adventure.

Walk through Slides 2-6 . Define the 4 zones using two scales: Energy (High/Low) and Pleasantness (Good/Unpleasant).

Emotion Charades
Students pick a card and act out an emotion. The class guesses the emotion AND its zone. Discuss why it fits there (e.g., "Angry is red because my heart beats fast and it doesn't feel good").

Emotion Charades Guide Emotion Charades
Guess the Mood Adventure!
Activity Goal
Students will practice identifying physical cues for different emotions and categorize them into the four Mood Meter zones.
1. Preparation
Print and cut out the Emotion Charades Activity Cards . Fold them and place them in a hat, bag, or bucket.
2. Introduction
Explain that students will act out emotions using only their bodies and faces (no talking!). The class must guess the feeling AND the color zone.
How to Play
A
One student picks a card secretly.

The student acts out the emotion. Encourage big facial expressions and body movements!

The class raises their hands to guess the Emotion first.

Once guessed correctly, ask: "Which Mood Meter color does that belong to?"
Discussion Questions
"What did their face do to show they were bored?"
"Why is 'furious' in the Red Zone instead of the Blue Zone?"
"Can an emotion belong to two zones? Why or why not?"
