Inner Glow Activity Sheet
Inner Glow
A 5-minute gratitude boost for your best self.
Name: ___________________________
Date: ____________________________
When our self-esteem feels low, we often focus on what we can't do or what we don't like. Gratitude helps us flip the script. By noticing the small wins and our own strengths, we feed our "inner glow."
One Small Win
What is something you did today (no matter how small) that you're proud of?
My Superpower
Name one quality you have that helps other people (like being a good listener or being kind).
A "Thank You" to Myself
Complete this sentence: "I am grateful to myself for..."
The 60-Second Doodle
Inside the box, draw a quick symbol or pattern that represents how you feel right now.
✨ Tip: Keep this on your desk. Whenever you feel low, look at your "Small Win" to remember your strength!
Inner Glow Facilitation Guide
Inner Glow
5-Minute Facilitation Guide
Activity Goal
To disrupt negative self-talk patterns by intentionally focusing on personal competence, character strengths, and self-appreciation.
Pacing (5 Minutes Total)
- 0:30 The Hook: Introduce the "Inner Glow" concept (flipping the script).
- 3:30 Journaling: Students respond to the three specific prompts.
- 1:00 Doodle & Close: Visual expression and final positive affirmation.
Teacher Tip
"If a student struggles to find a 'Small Win,' suggest things they take for granted: getting to class on time, holding a door, or even just showing up today."
Facilitation Script
"Sometimes our brains act like a spotlight that only shines on our mistakes. Today, we're moving that spotlight. We're going to find our 'Inner Glow'—the things that make us capable and kind."
"Look at the first prompt. Think about one thing you did today that worked. It doesn't have to be a trophy; it can be as simple as making your bed or finishing a math problem."
Discussion Starters
If you have extra time, ask:
- "Which prompt was the hardest to answer? Why do you think that is?"
- "How does your body feel different when you focus on a win versus a mistake?"
- "How can you remember this 'glow' the next time you have a hard moment?"
Low Self-Esteem Note
For students with chronically low self-esteem, gratitude for oneself can feel 'fake' or uncomfortable. Validate that this is a practice, like a muscle. It’s okay if it feels small or awkward at first.
