PART 2
MY COPING TOOLKIT (Self-Regulation)
High school throws countless waves your way. Reflecting on how you ground yourself helps build an intentional mental health toolkit.
My Grounding Choices
Creative Expression (Art, Writing, Music)
Physical Movement (Sports, Walks, Gym)
Social Processing (Venting to Trustworthy Friends)
Quiet Withdrawal (Solo Rest, Unplugging)
Mindfulness / Structured Box Breathing

THE WEB OF CONNECTION (Relationships)
Growth doesn't happen in isolation. Our relationships anchor us, challenge us, and hold us steady through heavy storms.
Support Circles
Community Allies
Core Anchors
Me
Fill in the rings: Write names of trusted guides, peers, or mentors who hold up your sky.
A Silent Hero or Grounding Mentor:
Who was someone (friend, teacher, counselor, coach) whose presence consistently brought you relief or reassurance?
My Gift to Others:
How did you show up for your community, friends, or family this year? What quiet act of kindness are you proud of?
PART 4
THE HORIZON PLAN (Future Resilience)
Close your eyes and look out at the next segment of your life. What patterns will you leave behind, and what tools will you carry forward?
Releasing Weight
List 2-3 behaviors, thoughts, or relationships that drained your energy this year that you are officially releasing:
Letter to My Next-Year Self

01 • Self-Awareness The Altitude Check
Mapping Your Peaks & Valleys
Think back to autumn of this year, winter's push, spring's hustle, and where you stand now.
✔ The Summit: A high energy point where you felt seen, capable, or truly proud.
✔ The Valley: An obstacle or low energy season that tested your capacity to pivot.
Your Turn to Graph:
In Part 1 of your journal worksheet, trace a continuous wave showing how your inner weather shifted quarter-by-quarter.
Quiet sketching & journaling time: 4 minutes
Step 1: Reflect on the road behind you. Slide 2 of 5

Slowing Unplugging, boundary setting
What Holds You Steady?
When life gets loud or expectations pile up, we need a standard operational procedure to protect our peace of mind.
Reflect on Part 2:
Which grounding techniques actually protected your battery this year? What was your Steady Anchor when burnout felt close?
Identify strategies to upgrade or carry forward. Slide 3 of 5
03 • Social Connections The Web of Connection
Who Holds Up Your Sky?
High school is a team sport. Even if you walk alone sometimes, there are concentric rings of allies supporting you.
1
Core Anchors
The 1-2 voices you trust with your rawest, unfiltered thoughts.
2
Community Allies
Teachers, counselors, coaches, or casual peers who bring steady relief.
Visualizing Your Network
In Part 3 , write actual names in the circles. Remember, a smaller circle of high-quality anchors is far healthier than a wide, chaotic crowd.
Honoring our shared bonds
Think of a silent hero you can thank or recognize this week. Slide 4 of 5
04 • Future Vision Clear Horizons
Designing Your Next Chapter
We do not start the future from scratch. We build it on top of everything we survived and learned this year.
The Horizon Facilitator Guide The Horizon Facilitator Guide
Counselor Facilitation Script & Pacing Guide
Target: High School
Duration: 45-50 Min
Session Objectives
1. Trace and accept quarterly emotional variations.
2. Identify personal coping tools that actually reduced stress.
3. Document relationships supporting student mental health.
4. Formulate future resilience strategies for next year.
Facilitation Safeguards
• No Forced Sharing: Keep sharing 100% optional; many reflections are highly sensitive.
• Normalize the "Low": Ensure students know that dip lines are healthy signs of a processed trial.
• Small Circles: Reassure students that even one contact in the circle of connection is a great success.
Minute-by-Minute Pacing Script
0-5 M
Introduction & Tone-Setting (Slides 1)
Distribute physical journals. Guide class into quiet, personal headspace. Script: "This workspace is a gift to your own mind. It is for you, not me. Draw the shutters down on external expectations for 45 minutes."
5-15 M
Part 1: The Altitude Check (Slide 2 & Journal Part 1)
Instruct students to sketch their Q1-Q4 wave. Point out that peaks do not need to be monumental victories. Script: "Let your pencil move. This wave shows that every feeling was temporary, but you arrived here intact."
15-30 M
Parts 2 & 3: Toolkits and Connection (Slides 3-4 & Journal Parts 2-3)
Transition into coping mechanisms and the concentric circles of connection. Emphasize that finding a boundary is a victory. Script: "If your inner circle has one name, or your toolkit was just putting on headphones—that is your anchor. Accept it."
30-45 M
Part 4: Future Vision & Quiet Letter (Slide 5 & Journal Part 4)
Writing letter to self. Counselors can play quiet, soft lo-fi or instrumental music. Script: "Write with complete honesty to the person you'll be next year. What do you need to remind them to drop or double down on?"
Closing & Post-Session Action Plan
Ask for three brave students to share just one word of their future intentions. Offer to collect worksheets in envelopes for students who want them locked in the counseling office and returned in autumn as an onboarding tool for next year.
