1
Phase 1: Truth Toss Warm-Up (5 Minutes)
Purpose: Establish a safe, lighthearted atmosphere where telling the truth feels easy and celebrated.
Facilitation Steps:
Gather students in a seated carpet circle. Display Slide 2 (Truth Toss).
Explain the rule: Gently toss the beanbag to a classmate and state a fun, harmless truth (e.g., "My true favorite snack is cheese crackers" or "Truth: I dislike waking up early" ).
Toss through 6-8 students rapidly to build energy and normalize speaking honestly out loud.
Teacher Say:
"When you spoke your truth, did your heart feel light? Honesty means your words match what is real. Today we are going to look in the Honesty Mirror!"
2
Phase 2: The Mirror Metaphor & The 3 Truth Tools (8 Minutes)
The Metaphor: Hold up a hand mirror (or refer to Slide 3). A clean mirror reflects exactly what is in front of it—sharp and true. When we tell the truth, our words reflect reality clearly. When we hide the truth, it's like fogging up the glass.
Tool 1: Clear Words
Say what actually happened without exaggerating or blaming others.
Tool 2: Brave Heart
Admitting a mistake takes courage. Being brave beats making up excuses.
Tool 3: Kind Tone
Honesty is not an excuse to be mean. Truth should be calm, respectful, and helpful.

Phases 3 & 4
3
Phase 3: Small-Group Skit Practice (10 Minutes)
Structure: Pair students up (Partner A & Partner B). Distribute the Mirror Skit Script .
Step 1 (2 mins): Assign each pair Scenario 1, 2, 3, or 4. Read the conflict prompt together.
Step 2 (3 mins): Identify the tempting "foggy/dishonest" reaction vs. the "Mirror Truth Turnaround."
Step 3 (5 mins): Rehearse their 30-second skit using the 3 Truth Tools (Clear Words, Brave Heart, Kind Tone).
Teacher Monitoring Cue:
Circulate and check: Are students practicing eye contact? Are they expressing accountability (e.g., "I accidentally ripped it, I am sorry" instead of "It just tore itself" )?
4
Phase 4: Class Showcase & Reflective Debrief (7 Minutes)
Showcase (4 mins): Invite 2-3 pairs with different scenarios to perform their 30-second skit at the front.
Audience Feedback Signal: Audience members show the "Mirror Sign" (two palms held up like looking into a hand mirror) if the performer used all 3 Truth Tools!
Closing Debrief Prompts (3 mins):
"Why does it take courage to tell the truth right away?"
"How do you feel inside when your words match your reflection?"
"What can you do if telling the truth feels scary?"
