The Hook: Molecular Movement (Icebreaker)

Instruct students to stand up and wander the "lab space" (classroom) silently like free-floating atoms. When you call out a number and a prompt, students must instantly form a group ("molecule") of that size and answer the prompt.
• Molecules of 2: "What is your go-to weekend element? (Favorite hobby/show)"
• Molecules of 3: "If you could synthesize any superpower, what would it be?"
Teacher Tip: Keep the pacing brisk! This breaks physical inertia and reduces initial social anxiety.

The Intro: Elements of Connection

Gather students back to their desks. Present the concept of **"Connection Chemistry."** Explain that just like atoms form stable bonds by sharing electrons, human beings form secure relationships by sharing experiences, active listening, and discovering common interests.
Key Concept: Introduce the **Active Listening Formula (ALF)** featured on the anchor chart: Face Forward + Lock Eye-Contact + Focus on Response (No interruptions).

The Lab Activity: Element Mixer Worksheet

Distribute the **Element Mixer Worksheet**. Students will fill out their own baseline details, and then move around the room to find peers who share specific social characteristics (e.g., favorite sports element, music wavelength, video game compound).
Active Listening Check-in: Encourage students to not just sign papers, but to actually stop and ask, "Why do you like that element?" and practice the active listening behaviors on the anchor chart.
Goal: Complete 4 connection rows of "The Compound" to prove relationship bond stability.

The Synthesis: Debrief & Classroom Chemistry Reflection

Bring the class together to synthesize findings. Prompt students with questions about the experiment's results and how active listening felt.

"Triple Compounds": Challenge advanced students to find a partner who shares a common element, then work together to locate a 3rd person who shares that same element, forming a triple-bond.
