The Playbook Framework
Three Levels of School Action
Level 1
The Rookie Move
Acts on impulse. Distracts others, creates mess, slows the whole squad down. Needs constant redirection.
Result: Lost privileges, wasted class time.
Level 2
The Bystander
Follows rules only when watched. Watches trouble happen without helping. Does the bare minimum.
Result: Zero trust gained, neutral reputation.
Level 3
The Pro Move
Reads the room. Anticipates problems, protects learning time, leads by example even when nobody is looking.
Result: Maximum freedom, high peer respect.
5th Graders have the power to choose Level 3 every single period.
Scenario 1 • Independent Work Time
The Desk Tapper & Whispering Storm
Vote: 1, 2, or 3 Fingers
The Scene: The teacher announces 15 minutes of silent reading/writing. Two desks away, someone is rhythmically tapping their pen on a water bottle and whispering jokes across the aisle.
Choice 1
Yell across the room: "Shut up, some of us are trying to work!"
Rookie Move
Choice 2
Put your head down, laugh along secretly, and abandon your assignment.
Bystander Move
Choice 3
Give a quick silent hand-down cue or non-verbal point to the timer, then lock back into your work.
Pro Move
Hold up your fingers high on count of three: 1, 2, or 3! Why does Choice 3 protect everyone's focus?
Scenario 2 • Passing Period
The Hallway Avalanche
Vote: 1, 2, or 3 Fingers
The Scene: The hallway is packed. A 4th grader trips, drops a heavy binder, and papers slide everywhere under people's sneakers. The bell rings in 60 seconds.
Choice 1
Step right over their papers, chuckle with your friends, and sprint ahead.
Rookie Move
Choice 2
Stop dead in the middle of the hall to gawk, blocking the whole line behind you.
Bystander Move
Choice 3
Shield the area for 5 seconds, scoop 3 papers into their binder, and keep traffic moving right.
Pro Move
Quick finger vote! 1, 2, or 3? 5th graders set the tone for the younger grades!
Scenario 3 • The Lunchroom Exit
The "Not My Trash" Stand-Off
Vote: 1, 2, or 3 Fingers
The Scene: Lunch dismissal is called. There is a squished milk carton and potato chip bag on your table. Nobody claims it. The supervisor says the table cannot leave until it's clear.
Choice 1
Argue loudly: "I didn't eat chips! It wasn't me! Why do WE have to sit?!"
Rookie Move
Choice 2
Cross your arms and stare at the person who sat there earlier, waiting in silence.
Bystander Move
Choice 3
Grab a napkin, sweep it into the bin in 4 seconds flat, and walk out to recess together.
Pro Move
Fingers ready! 1, 2, or 3? Time saved for recess: 8 full minutes!

CAMPUS CODE: SCENARIO TRIAGE
Name:
Date:
Evaluate each school situation below and determine whether it shows a Rookie, Bystander, or Pro move.
Part 1: Classify the Move
Write: Rookie, Bystander, or Pro
A. You see someone’s pencil case spill in the hallway. You tap a friend's shoulder to laugh, then walk right past.
B. The sub is searching for math materials in the wrong cabinet. You stay silent and watch for 10 minutes.
C. Your table partner is stuck on question #4 and sighing. You whisper: "Let's read this line together."
Part 2: The Group Project Dilemma
Read & Decide
The Scene: You are in a group of 3 making a science poster. One member is doodling cartoons in the margin and humming instead of writing research facts.
Choice A: Yell that they are ruining the grade and snatch the markers away.
Choice B: Say nothing, do the whole poster by yourself, and feel angry all day.
Choice C: Hand them a section: "We need your drawing talent! Can you illustrate this cell diagram?"
Why does your selected choice protect both the project AND classroom respect?
Part 3: My 24-Hour "Pro Move" Blueprint

CAMPUS CODE: RELUCTANT-CLASS BLUEPRINT
Target: 5th Grade
Focus: Low-Risk Participation
Engineered specifically for quiet cohorts that freeze during open-ended discussions. Uses progressive non-verbal signaling (fingers → whisper-swaps → written contracts) so every student participates without fear of public speaking.
Low-Stakes Participation Protocol Toolkit
Zero Cold-Calling Needed
1. Silent Finger Poll
Students hold up 1, 2, or 3 fingers against their chest before flashing on count of 3. Zero fear of being wrong.
2. 15-Sec Whisper Swap
Elbow partners whisper one sentence only. Cuts social anxiety because both students talk simultaneously in low volume.
3. Private Chest Pledge
Students give a subtle thumb up against their chest to signal commitment without needing to speak to the whole room.
Minute-by-Minute Pacing Schedule
00:00–05:00
Hook & Silent Energy Check (Slides 1–2): Set the norm: "Today nobody will be put on the spot." Run the 3-scenario Fist-to-Five finger check. Praise 100% hand participation.
05:00–12:00
The 3 Levels Framework (Slide 3): Introduce Rookie, Bystander, and Pro Move. Frame it around freedom and peer respect rather than adult rules. Keep energy brisk.
12:00–20:00
Rapid Scenarios & Worksheet Triage (Slides 4–6 + Worksheet Part 1): Present the 3 dilemma slides. Students vote 1-2-3 with fingers, then log Part 1 on the worksheet.
20:00–26:00
Group Dilemma Deep-Dive (Worksheet Part 2): Students read the science poster situation independently, check Option C, and do a 15-second whisper-swap with their shoulder partner.
26:00–30:00
24-Hour Blueprint & Chest Pledge (Slide 7 + Worksheet Part 3): Students fill in their personal trigger and move. End with the silent chest-thumb confirmation and collect sheets.
Low-Pressure Question Stems
- • "Don't say it out loud yet—lock your finger number in against your chest."
- • "Notice how almost 80% picked Choice 3. Why does that make sense?"
- • "Whisper 3 words to your neighbor: which option saves the most time?"
- • "If you've ever seen a bystander moment happen, give a subtle nod."
