Activity Steps

Introduction (5 min)
Recap key concepts from the slide deck. Explain that today focuses on the "Why" and the "What's Next"—understanding hidden triggers and proposing systemic interventions.

Group Formation & Scenarios (2 min)
Divide students into groups of 4-5. Hand out one Role-Play Scenario Card per group. These cards involve complex issues like cultural misunderstandings or family stress.

Brainstorm & Prep (5 min)
Students discuss their scenario with three focal points:
Causes: What's really going on beneath the surface?Effects: How does this hurt the community in 2 months? In 2 years?Strategies: How can we stop the cycle, not just the behavior?

The Performance (10 min)
Groups perform their role-play. Focus should be on the intervention . Audience members should look for how root causes are addressed.

Reflection & Debrief (3 min)
Facilitate a short discussion after each performance: "How did the strategy address the long-term impact?" or "What other root causes might be at play?"
Key Discussion Questions
• How did role-playing reveal the hidden "side" of bullying?
• Which intervention felt most powerful? Why?
• How can we apply these "advanced" moves in our hallways?
• What role did empathy play in your strategy?
Note: Maintain a safe environment. Offer alternative formats (written reflection) for students uncomfortable with role-play. Emphasize that there are no "perfect" answers, only thoughtful approaches.
