• Empathy & Social Respect
• Positive Cognitive Reframing
1 Direct Instruction & Slide Walkthrough (20 Mins)
Slides 1 & 2: Welcome & Diversity as a Garden 6 Mins
Teacher Script: "Look around our room! Just like a flower garden has sunflowers, daisies, and roses, our classroom has bodies of different heights, skin tones, hair textures, and abilities. Is a sunflower better than a tulip? No way! Every body is just right."
Key Teaching Point: Normalize physical aids (glasses, braces, wheelchairs) as helpful tools that let bodies explore the world.
Slide 3: Functional Appreciation (Body Powers) 5 Mins
Teacher Script: "Sometimes people think about what a body looks like, but the most exciting thing is what your body DOES! Your heart pumps, your lungs breathe, your hands give high-fives and draw pictures."
Interactive Move: Have students put hand on heart to feel their heartbeat, then give themselves a gentle self-hug.
Slides 4 & 5: Respecting Everyone & Flipping "Ouch Words" 9 Mins
Teacher Script: "Has an 'ouch thought' ever popped into your head, like 'I don't like my hair' or 'I wish I ran faster'? We can use our Magic Flip words! Instead of 'I'm not fast,' we say: 'My legs are working hard and learning!'"
Golden Rule: Reinforce clearly that commenting on someone else's weight, size, or body shape is never allowed.
