Detective Mission
Problem Size Patrol
Every day we face problems! Some are tiny pebbles, and some are huge boulders. Let's learn how to tell the difference!
Today's Goal: Learn to measure the size of a problem and match our reaction!
1
The 3 Sizes of Problems
Problem Thermometer
Small
Glitch / Tiny
Can be solved quickly, easily, and often by yourself !
✏️ Broken pencil lead
🎲 Last in line for game
Medium
Bump / Medium
Needs a little time, deep breaths, and maybe help from a friend or adult.
💔 Peer won't share ball
😤 Hurt feelings from words
Big
Emergency / Big
Someone is hurt, unsafe, or in danger. Always get an adult immediately!
🩹 Bleeding or injury
🚨 Fire alarm or danger
💡 Golden Rule: Match the size of your reaction to the size of the problem!
2
Match the Reaction!
Keep It Balanced
When Reactions Don't Match
Having a giant scream or meltdown over a dropped crayon makes a tiny problem turn into a giant mess!
💥 Tiny Problem + Huge Reaction = Chaos
Peace Pal Strategy
Take a deep belly breath. Ask yourself: "Can I solve this myself in 1 minute?" If yes, it's a small problem!
✨ Small Problem + Calm Choice = Peace
🗣️ Turn and Talk: What is one small problem you solved yesterday all by yourself?
3
Detective Quiz Time!
What Size Is It?
🖍️
Someone took the blue crayon you wanted.
Small Problem!
🛝
A classmate fell off the monkey bars and can't get up.
Big Emergency!
🧩
Two friends both want the same puzzle and argue.
Medium Problem!
🌟 Super Peace Pals know: When in doubt about safety, ask a grown-up right away!

Big Question
Tattle or Tell?
Should you tell an adult right now, or handle it yourself? Become a certified Peace Pal Detective and find out!
Today's Mission: Learn the difference between getting someone IN trouble vs. keeping someone SAFE.
1
What is the Difference?
The Purpose Matters
Tattling 🤫
Goal: Get someone IN trouble
No one is hurt or unsafe
It's a harmless rule glitch
You can solve it yourself
Example: "Teacher! Sam is drawing with purple instead of blue!"
Telling / Reporting 🛡️
Goal: Keep someone SAFE
Someone is injured or in danger
Property is being broken
You tried, but it's unsafe
Example: "Teacher! Maya fell off the swing and her wrist hurts."
💡 Golden Rule: If it's about SAFETY, always tell a grown-up right away!
2
The 3 Detective Questions
Ask Before You Tell
1
Is anyone hurt or in danger?
If YES, tell an adult immediately. Safety comes first!
2
Am I trying to HELP or HURT?
If you want someone to get in trouble, pause and rethink!
3
Did I try using kind words first?
Try saying: "Please stop, I don't like that" before telling.
🔍 Remember: Helping hands report danger; tattling tongues seek trouble!
3
Detective Case Files
Tattle or Tell?

Tattling Telling (Safe)
B
Detective Action Plan:
Draw an adult helper at school you can tell when it's an emergency:
Draw what you do when someone has a harmless glitch (mind your own work):
Fill in the blank with the word HELP or TROUBLE:
I only tell the teacher when someone needs , not just to get someone in !
Detective Clue: If everyone is safe and healthy, solve it yourself or let it go!
