Reflect Feelings: The Heart Check (22 – 26 min)
4 Minutes
Teacher: "Put your hand on your heart. When your partner gave you a wish to work on, did your tummy feel a little fluttery? Give a thumbs up if you felt that. That is totally normal! Wishes feel big because we care about our work."
Teacher: "Who can share: how does it feel knowing your friend wants to help you grow into the strongest 1st grader you can be?" (Call on 2 students; validate pride, teamwork, and growth mindset).

Checklist Review & Wrap-Up (26 – 30 min)
4 Minutes
Teacher: "Grab your Feedback Quality Checklist. Let's do a fast self-check! Did you look at your partner? Check! Did you share 2 stars? Check! Did you say thank you? Check!"
Have students record their chosen wish in the goal box. Conclude with a partner high-five: "Feedback is a gift, and we are growing together!"
1st Grade Scaffolds & Misconception Fixes
Misconception: "Wish means bad" Remind students: A wish is not a mistake. A wish is a power-up seed that makes your next drawing or story even more exciting!
ELL / Non-verbal Support: Allow emerging writers to point to the picture icons on the Star & Wish Tokens (pencil, palette, ruler) rather than formulating full sentences.
