Group Roadmap Facilitator Guide Body Boss Squad: 8-Week Group Roadmap
Small-Group Intervention Guide • Grades 1–3
30 Min / Session
Weeks 1 – 4
Target Skills
Personal space, tactile impulse control, focus stamina, sensory self-regulation.
Session Ritual
Check-in (5m) → Wiggle Release (5m) → Skill Lesson (12m) → Cool-down (8m).
Group Size & Setting
4–6 students. Rug circle with individual floor spots / taped square boundaries.
WEEK 1
The Invisible Body Bubble (Personal Space)
Concept: Arm's-Length Boundaries
Core Lesson: Teach the "Hula Hoop rule"—everyone carries a personal invisible safety bubble of 3 feet. Practice extending both arms and spinning without touching neighbors.
Movement Game: "Bubble Drifters"—walk slowly around room; when facilitator rings bell, freeze instantly without touching anyone's bubble.
WEEK 2
Radar Hands (Keeping Hands to Yourself)
Concept: Tactile Boundaries
Core Lesson: Define safe hand harbors: "Hands in pockets, hands in lap, or hands clasped like a diamond." Address reaching, tapping peers, poking, and grabbing supplies.
Movement Game: "Diamond Hands Relay"—carry a smooth river stone between clasped palms around an obstacle path without dropping or touching peers.
WEEK 3
The Energy Engine (Reading Wiggles)
Concept: 1-to-5 Speedometer
Core Lesson: Introduce the 5 Engine Speeds: 1 (Sleepy/Low), 3 (Just Right / Ready to Learn), 5 (Overdrive / Bouncing). Teach students to identify physical sensations in chest and legs.
Movement Game: "Engine Shift"—students march at Speed 4, hear audio cue, downshift immediately to Speed 3 sitting posture.
WEEK 4
Sensory Tools vs. Toys (Fidget Protocol)
Concept: Productive Tactile Release
Core Lesson: "Tools help our eyes and ears focus; toys distract our eyes and peers." Practice tactile regulation: silent stress putty, resistance chair bands, tactile stickers.
Skill Lab: The 3 Fidget Rules: 1) In hands, not in air; 2) Silent only; 3) Eyes stay on the task. Practice listening to a story while holding putty.
Facilitator Note: Provide physical floor markers (tape or dots) during Weeks 1–3 to anchor concrete boundaries.

30 Min / Session
Weeks 5 – 8
WEEK 5
Laser Focus Beam (Visual Attention)
Concept: Orienting Eyes & Posture
Core Lesson: Introduce the "Flashlight Beam" metaphor. Your nose points where your eyes should look. Practice turning your shoulders and eyes to track the speaker.
Movement Game: "Spotlight Tracker"—facilitator moves a flashlight or puppet; students follow with eyes while keeping bodies anchored.
WEEK 6
The Distraction Shield (Staying on Task)
Concept: Ignoring Environmental Triggers
Core Lesson: Identify external distractors (pencil drops, hall noises, classmate movements) and internal distractors (wiggles, daydreams). Practice internal self-talk: "Look back at my work."
Challenge: 3-Minute Task Sprint with intentional minor audio distractions. Reward students for keeping pencils on page.
WEEK 7
Emergency Brakes (Impulse Control)
Concept: The 3-Second Pause
Core Lesson: The "Stop, Breathe, Decide" sequence. When feeling the urge to grab, shout out, or jump up, engage physical brakes: push hands together firmly for 3 seconds.
Movement Game: "Simon Says Impulse Trap"—add tricky commands where students must brake before moving.
WEEK 8
Body Boss Graduation & Generalization
Concept: Transfer to Classroom
Core Lesson: Review student growth. Each student identifies their top 2 personal tools for the general classroom (e.g., chair push-ups, quiet desk bubble reminder). Award certificates.
Closing Activity: Role-play real classroom situations (carpet time, partner math, walking in hallway) demonstrating mastery.
Tactical Sensory Reset Menu (Use Anytime Energy Exceeds Level 4)
Chair Push-Ups
Grip chair seat sides, press palms down to lift bottom off seat for 5 seconds. Repeat 3x.
Wall Presses
Stand arm's length from wall, push with full palm resistance like pushing the room wider.
Turtle Squeeze
Hug knees to chest tightly for 4 deep breaths, then slowly expand arms outward.
Classroom Link: Share the weekly theme with general education teachers to reinforce unified vocabulary.

🫧 Rule Number One
What Is Your Body Bubble?
📏 The 3-Foot Shield
Imagine an invisible balloon around you. If you stretch your arms out, that is your personal bubble space!
🛡️ Why It Matters
When we protect our bubble and respect friends' bubbles, everyone feels safe, calm, and ready to learn.
Bubble Rule: Do not pop anyone else's bubble with your hands, feet, or body!
🤲 Impulse Control
Super Safe Hands

Hands in Lap
At carpet time, fold your fingers together quietly in your lap.
👖
Hands in Pockets
In hallway lines, slide hands in pockets or at your sides.
💎
Diamond Clasp
Press fingertips together gently when feeling an urge to touch things.
Remember: We ask with our words before touching anyone or their materials!
⚡ Sensory Regulation
Got the Wiggles? 3 Body Resets!

Body Bubble Academy • Grades 1–3
45 Minutes Total
Whole Class or Tier 2 Group
SEL Competencies
Self-Management, Self-Awareness, Relationship Skills (respecting peers' physical autonomy).
Target Behaviors
Personal space invasion, fidgeting with peer items, motor restlessness, classroom distractibility.
Materials Needed
1 Hula Hoop, Body Bubble Slides, Cadet Mission Worksheets, pencils, floor tape spots.
Measurable Learning Objectives
Body Awareness: Students will demonstrate their personal 3-foot body bubble by extending arms without touching others.
Impulse Control: Students will name and model 3 safe hand harbors (in lap, pockets, diamond clasp) instead of reaching or grabbing.
Sensory Regulation: Students will perform at least one physical proprioceptive reset (chair push-up or wall press) during high arousal.
Phase 1: Hook (8 mins) The Hula Hoop Bubble Demo
Teacher Script: "Space Cadets, look at this hoop around my waist. When I step near someone with my hoop touching them, notice how they instinctively lean back! Everyone has an invisible forcefield just like this hoop. Today, we are learning the secret codes to protect everyone's bubble and keep our hands in orbit!"
Check: Have students stand up, spread arms wide like wings, spin slowly 360 degrees, and adjust spacing until no fingers brush against a classmate.
Phase 2: Direct Instruction (12 mins) Body Bubble Slides Walkthrough
Slide 2 (The 3-Foot Shield): Contrast "Comfortable Space" vs. "Bubble Popping" (crowding in line, leaning into neighbors at carpet).
Slide 3 (Safe Hands Harbor): Introduce the 3 positions: Lap, Pockets, Diamond Clasp. Teach: "Ask with words, never grab with hands."
Slide 4 (Wiggle Engine Resets): Teach that energy in our body is natural! Practice 1 Chair Push-Up and 1 Five-Finger Star Breath together.
Slide 5 (Laser Focus): Teach the Flashlight Rule: "Wherever your nose points, your attention flows!"
