Hero Key Phrases
Hero Move: "Engage the Emergency Brake."
Check In: "Is your engine red-lining?"
Prompt: "Hold the Pause, pull the Brake."
Options: "Pocket Lock or Deep Lung?"
Watch For...
Active Choice: Reinforce that the Brake is a power move, not just following rules.
Recovery: Ask students how long it took their "engine" to cool down after the brake.
Soft Brakes: Watch for held breath; encourage slow exhales.

Objective: Practice perspective-taking and understand impact on others.
D1
The Heart Vision Power
Intro: Heart Vision = Seeing how people feel on the inside. Read faces to find clues.
Activity: Face Reader. Teacher makes faces (Angry, Bored, Sad, Proud). Students shout out the feeling and a "Hero Choice" to help.
D2
The Social Battery
Concept: Everyone has a battery. Quiet listening = Charger. Yelling/Interrupting = Drainer.
Practice: "What charges YOUR battery?" Students share one thing. Then share one way they charge the teacher's battery.
D3
Role Play: The Reading Room
Scenario: You want to sing a loud song during silent reading. Practice: Use Heart Vision to look at friends. "They are trying to focus. If I sing, I drain their battery."
Hero Move: Hum quietly to yourself or wait until outside.
D4
The Helping Ripple
Scenario A: Someone drops their crayons. Hero Move: Quick help charging.
Scenario B: Someone is crying because they lost a game. Hero Move: "Are you okay?"
Mission: Notice one person who looks "low battery" today and try to charge it.
D5
Empathy Reflection
Discussion: "Whose battery did you charge today?"
Mission: Complete the "Battery Charger" worksheet. Award Level 4 Empathy badges.
Trauma Note
Students with trauma may find it hard to read faces. Use very clear, exaggerated facial expressions or photos of themselves.
Autism Note
Focus on the "Battery" as a logical system: Actions = +/- energy. This helps make empathy more concrete.

The Power of Pause
Objective: Students identify impulses and use a mental "Pause Button."
D1
Concept Intro: The Remote Control Brain
Discussion: Ask "What is an impulse?" (A fast urge). Introduce Brain Buttons: Pause, Rewind, Play.
Activity: Freeze Game. Students dance/move; on "Pause!", they must freeze like a statue. Repeat 3x.

Scenario B: You see a tray of cupcakes. Practice: Stop + Hands in Pockets.
Discussion: What happens if we "Play" without "Pause"? (Trouble, hurt feelings).
D4
Hero Practice: Waiting to Speak
The Wait-Hand Move: Place one hand on your opposite shoulder to "hold" your idea while waiting.
Role Play: Teacher is telling a story. Students practice the "Wait-Hand" when they have a funny thought to share.

Week 4 Academy Teacher Guide Week 4: Invisible Victory
Focus: The Self-Powered Hero Engine
Mission: Self-Motivation
This week, we move from receiving praise to generating pride. Kindergarteners often wait for a "start signal" (teacher instruction) or a "finish reward" (sticker). We are building their Self-Powered Engine : the ability to choose the right thing because it feels strong and good inside, even if no one else notices or applauds.
Weekly Goal
"I have a hero engine inside me. I can start myself and feel proud of me."
Remote Control Engine
Only works when someone else presses the button (praise, stickers, reminders).
Self-Powered Engine
Starts itself! Works even in the dark or when the teacher is busy.
DAY 1
The Self-Start Button
Introduce the "Hero Engine." Use the slides to show how a self-powered engine is stronger than one that needs a remote control. Discuss: "What makes your engine start?"
DAY 2
Invisible Victories
Practice doing "The Hero Thing" when no one is watching. Set a "Secret Mission": Do one helpful thing today and keep it a secret. Feel the "Internal Glow" instead of waiting for a high-five.
DAY 3
Sharing the Spotlight
Reality Check: Sometimes peers get the praise. Practice the "Self-Praise" whisper. When a friend gets a turn, whisper to your heart: "I'm still a hero. I'm proud of my choices."
DAY 4
The Glow Check
Worksheet Day. Focus on the "Hero Engine Truths." Help students identify that their value is fixed—it doesn't go up or down based on the teacher's attention.
DAY 5
Engine Celebration
Celebration of self-power. Instead of individual stickers, award the whole group a "Self-Power Badge" for working even when reinforcement was low.
Engine Talk Prompts
"Does a real hero stop being a hero just because the teacher is talking to someone else?"
"How can you make your heart feel 'glowy' without needing a sticker?"
"What can you say to yourself when you do a great job and no one says 'Good Job'?"

Activity: The Echo Challenge. Teacher says a need (e.g., "I need a drink"). Students repeat it back in their strongest "Hero Voice" (calm, clear, firm).
D3
Practice: Frustration & Help
Focus: Getting stuck on work. Script: "I feel frustrated because this is hard. I need help."
Role Play: Hand out a blank paper. Students pretend it's a 100-page test. Practice using the script with the teacher.
D4
Practice: Space & Personal Bubbles
Focus: Someone being too loud or close. Script: "I feel annoyed because it's too loud. I need some quiet."
Role Play: Teacher "hums" loudly while students try to read. Students practice the script to ask for quiet.
