Sixty Second Pitch Guide

The 60-Second Investor Pitch
Target Word Count: 125–140 Words
Investors don't fund companies in 60 seconds—they decide if you warrant a 30-minute meeting. Cut feature clutter, isolate the commercial spark, and deliver with composure.

The Editorial Razor: What to Cut vs. What to Keep
Ruthlessly Cut (Information Noise)
- ✕ Feature inventories: Don't recite UI buttons, tabs, or secondary settings.
- ✕ The founder origin saga: Cut how you first had the idea over coffee or in college.
- ✕ Buzzword fog: Drop "synergistic AI-driven paradigm shifts" and explain simply.
- ✕ Vanity macro TAM: Never claim "we only need 1% of a $500B industry."
- ✕ Deep architecture: Save database schemas and API protocols for technical diligence.
Prioritize (High-Voltage Signal)
- ✓ Quantified pain: "Hospitals lose $4.2M annually to missed shift schedules."
- ✓ The unfair insight: A counterintuitive truth you discovered that rivals overlook.
- ✓ Tangible velocity: "Grew from 0 to 42 enterprise pilots in 90 days with zero ad spend."
- ✓ Unit economics: "$120 ACV, 82% gross margins, 4-month payback."
- ✓ Actionable ask: "Raising $1.5M to achieve $100k MRR and scale hospital integrations."
Vocal Delivery: Commanding the Room
135-Word Cap
Speaking rate under stress accelerates to 180 wpm, causing investor fatigue. Cap scripts at 135 words to force natural pacing.
The Anchor Pause
Take a deliberate 1-second pause after your hook and after your traction metric. Silence signals founder authority and cements retention.
The Coffee Test
Speak as if explaining your business to a respected peer across a table. Avoid theatrical presentation cadence; opt for confident clarity.
Eye-Lock Cadence
Never look at the ceiling while calculating. Deliver each discrete sentence to a single investor before rotating to the next.
The Incubator Rule: If an investor cannot accurately describe your company to their partner 5 minutes later, your pitch failed.
