ASSIGNMENT ACE CHEAT SHEET
Daily Success Tool
Middle School Rule: An assignment isn't finished until it is officially turned in!
Keep In Front Sleeve
1
Track & Organize
Write Every Task Down
Log due dates in your planner before leaving class. If there's no homework, write "None" so you never second-guess.
Two-Pocket Folder System
Left Pocket = To Do (work in progress).
Right Pocket = Ready to Turn In.
Backpack & Supply Sweep
Before going home, check: worksheets, notebooks, textbook, and charged device with charging cable.
Daily Habit: Check your online grade portal at 4:00 PM
2
Start Strong
The 5-Minute Launch Hack
Tell your brain: "I only have to work for 5 minutes." Getting started breaks inertia; momentum keeps you going!
Break Tasks into 3 Bites
Never write "Do Essay." Write: 1. Read prompt & pick topic, 2. Outline 3 points, 3. Write paragraph 1.
Hardest First ("Eat the Frog")
Tackle the tough subject while your focus is fresh. Easy assignments feel like a reward afterward!
Pro-Tip: Clear your desk of everything except 1 assignment
3
Stay Focused
Class Time = Free Homework
Every 15 minutes of work completed during class is 15 minutes less homework after school. Protect that time!
Close Distraction Tabs
Keep only your work and reference tabs open. Close games, chat, and videos. Go full-screen on your document.
The 2-Minute Stuck Rule
If stuck for 2 minutes: re-read directions, check an example, then raise your hand or ask a peer. Don't drift off.
Question to Ask: "Is what I'm doing right now finishing my work?"
4
Finish & Turn In
The "N.D.P." Front Header Check
Name, Date, Period on top. "No-name" papers are the #1 way middle schoolers lose points on work they did!
Digital Submit Confirmation
Saving a Google Doc or Canvas page is NOT turning it in. Click "Turn In / Submit" and verify the status says "Submitted".
Paper Turn-In Basket Routine
Place it directly into the period basket. Never leave completed work on your desk or tucked inside a random textbook.
Remember: Work left in your backpack earns a zero until submitted!
30-Second Pre-Flight Checklist (Run Before Turning In)
4 Points of Quality
1. Header
First & last name, date, class period.
2. Flip & Scan
Check back of page; no blanks left blank.
3. Neatness
Legible handwriting and clean erasures.
4. Release
In tray or green check on digital screen.
Stuck or Behind? Tell your teacher before the due date. Teachers respect communication and always help proactive students!
