1. Introduction & Warm-Up

Greet students and introduce the topic: "Today, we're going to talk about some amazing skills that help us work with others and even lead! These are called soft skills."
Display Slide 1: Soft Skills Superstars .
Pose questions from the "Warm-Up: What Comes to Mind?" section of the Discussion Guide to spark initial thoughts.
Briefly explain that soft skills are about how we interact with others, not just what we know.
2. Explore Soft Skills

Slide 2 (Communication): Discuss what good communication looks like (clear speaking, active listening). Use prompts from the Discussion Guide.Slide 3 (Empathy): Define empathy as "seeing through someone else's eyes." Use real-life scenarios to engage students.Slide 4 (Problem-Solving): Explain finding creative solutions. Ask students for quick examples of how a leader uses this.

Facilitation Tips
Wait Time:
Give 7th graders at least 5-10 seconds of "think time" before expecting a hand or a response.
The "Why":
Always circle back to how these skills make their life easier, not just "good behavior."
Modeling:
Share a brief personal story of a time you used one of these skills (or failed to!) to make it relatable.
Active Listening:
Explicitly model the skills while they talk: eye contact, nodding, and paraphrasing their answers.
