How I Learn, Play Safely, and Shine Bright in Kindergarten
Name:
Teacher:
School is a Wonderful Place!
Every day, I come to kindergarten to learn new things, make friends, and have lots of fun! My teachers care about me, and my classmates are excited to play with me.
When we all follow school expectations, our classroom stays safe, peaceful, and happy for everyone!
Our 3 Big School Promises
1. I Am Safe
I keep my hands and body calm. I use walking feet inside school.
2. I Am Kind
I use polite words, take turns, and share toys with my classmates.
3. I Am Helpful
I listen to my teachers, tidy up my messes, and do my personal best.
How to read this story: Read each page together with excitement! Point to the pictures and practice the actions (raising hands, taking belly breaths, and walking feet) together.

Part One
In Our Classroom Listening & Learning
Whole Body Listening
Eyes & Ears Ready
When my teacher talks, I turn my body toward them. My eyes are looking, my ears are listening, and my mouth is quiet.
This helps my brain learn and shows respect!
Raising My Hand
Waiting My Turn to Talk
When I have an answer or a question, I raise my hand high. I keep my voice silent until my teacher calls my name.
Everyone gets a fair chance to be heard.
Walking Feet
Safe Inside the Building
Inside the classroom and hallways, I use slow walking feet. Running inside can hurt someone. Running is for outside on the grass!
Walking feet keep our bodies safe from falling.
Personal Bubble Space
Gentle Hands & Feet
I keep my hands and feet to my own body. Everyone has an invisible personal bubble. I do not push, grab, or lean on friends.
My friends feel comfortable and safe with me.

Part Two
Play, Friends & Feelings Being a Great Friend
Sharing and Taking Turns
We have wonderful blocks, puzzles, and art supplies in our room. Sometimes, another child is using a toy I want.
What I can say: "May I please have a turn when you are finished?" or "Would you like to build together?"
Speaking with Kind Words
Words have power to make friends smile. I use friendly words and a calm voice.
"Please"
"Thank you"
"Excuse me"
"I'm sorry"
What To Do When I Have Big Feelings
It's okay to feel upset!
Sometimes I feel frustrated, sad, or angry. Big feelings happen to everyone! It is okay to feel mad, but it is never okay to hit, scream, or throw things.
1
Stop & Freeze
Put hands in lap and pause.
2
Balloon Breaths
Breathe in deep, blow out slowly.
3
Ask For Help
Tell the teacher: "I need help."
Treating things gently: I turn book pages carefully so they do not rip, and I handle toys softly so they stay in good shape for everyone to enjoy!

Part Three
Daily Routines & My Pledge I Am a School Star!
๐งน
Clean-Up Time
When the chime rings or clean-up song plays, I stop what I am doing right away. I pick up toys and put them back in their home bins. We work as a team!
๐ถ
Walking in Line
When we travel down the hallway, I stand quietly facing forward. My hands stay gently by my side or in my pockets. I keep safe space behind my friend.
