Quick Tip
"For students with anxiety, consider pre-recording their answers or allowing them to use 'cheat sheets' during the mock interview."
1 Instruction & Modeling
Use the Pro Moves Slides to cover:
Visual Modeling: Demonstrate the "bad handshake" vs. the "pro handshake."
Think-Aloud: Answer a question poorly (too short) and then answer it again using the "Pro Move" strategy.
2 Guided Practice
The Playbook Worksheet:
Allow students 15–20 minutes to complete their prep sheets. Circulate to help students identify their personal strengths. Encourage them to focus on 1–2 key strengths they feel proud of.
3 Mock Interview Rotations
The Setup
Set up two chairs facing each other. If possible, invite another teacher or staff member to act as the "Employer."
The Rotation
Each interview should be 5–7 minutes long. Use the Scorecard Rubric to provide immediate, positive feedback.
4 Debrief & Reflection
End the lesson by having students share one thing they did well and one thing they want to practice more. Focus on the "Win" of the day!
