Building Bridges
Welcome! Today we are learning how to be "Bridge Builders" by using our listening ears. When we listen carefully, we show our friends that we care about what they have to say. This builds a strong bridge between us!
How to Play: Role-Playing
1
Get Into Groups
Find your team and sit in a small circle.
2
Pick a Card & Assign Roles
Pick a Listening Game Card. Who will be the Speaker ? Who will be the Listener ? Who will be the Observer ?
3
Act It Out
Act out the scenario on the card. Focus on using your eyes, ears, and heart to listen!
4
Give Kind Feedback
The Observer shares what they saw. Then, rotate roles so everyone gets a turn!
Observer's Notes
When you are the Observer, watch for things like eye contact, nodding, or asking good questions. Write or draw what you see below!
Think & Share
1. How did it feel when your friend was listening carefully to your story?
2. What is one thing you noticed when you were trying to be a great listener?
3. How can we show others that we care about them through our listening?
Pass the Message Game Guide Pass the Message
A Game of Clear Communication
"Get ready for a fun and interactive game that shows us how important clear communication and active listening are!"
How to Play
1
Arrange the Circle
Have the students sit in a large circle so everyone can see and hear each other clearly.
2
Start the Message
The teacher whispers a simple sentence to the first person.
Example: "The red fox jumps high."
3
Pass It Along
Each student whispers what they heard to the next person. No repeating allowed—listen carefully the first time!
4
The Big Reveal
The last student shares the message out loud. Compare it with the original to see how it changed!
Reflection Discussion
"How did the message change? Why do you think that happened?"
"What does this game teach us about listening carefully and speaking clearly?"
"How can you make sure you understand your friend correctly next time?"
Every message matters. Every listener counts.
