Teacher Dialogue:
"Good morning/afternoon, junior detectives! Today, we're going to become 'Feeling Detectives' and learn to spot clues about how we and others are feeling. But first, let's check in with ourselves."
"Close your eyes for a moment, take a deep breath in, and slowly let it out. Now, silently ask yourself: 'How am I feeling right now?' What sensations do you notice in your body? Do you feel energetic? Calm? A little sleepy?"
"Open your eyes. Can anyone share one word about how they are feeling right now, and maybe one small clue their body is giving them? For example, 'I feel calm, and my shoulders feel relaxed.'"
Allow 2-3 students to share, keeping it brief and positive. Affirm all responses.
"Great job! Noticing these little clues in our bodies is the first step to becoming excellent Feeling Detectives. Now, let's learn about our special detective tool: The Zones of Regulation!"

"As Feeling Detectives, we know our bodies give us clues about our feelings. The Zones of Regulation is like a special map that helps us understand these clues. It helps us sort our big and small feelings into four colorful zones."
Blue Zone (Slide 4)
"Let's start with the Blue Zone. When we're in the Blue Zone, we might be feeling slow, sad, sick, or tired. Our energy is low. What do you think your body might be doing if you're in the Blue Zone? What clues might you see?"
Listen for: yawning, droopy shoulders, quiet voice, slow movements.
Green Zone (Slide 5)
"Next, we have the Green Zone! This is often where we feel happy, calm, and focused. Our bodies are just right for learning and being with friends. What body clues tell us we're in the Green Zone?"
Listen for: smiling, relaxed, deep breaths, steady heartbeat, focused eyes.
Yellow Zone (Slide 6)
"This zone is like a 'caution' light. We might be feeling silly, excited, nervous, frustrated, or a little worried. What body signals might we notice in the Yellow Zone?"
Listen for: fidgeting, fast talking, bouncing, furrowed brows, clenched jaw.
Red Zone (Slide 7)
"Finally, we have the Red Zone. This is when our feelings are BIG and strong. What intense body signals might we see in the Red Zone?"
Listen for: yelling, stomping, crying loudly, pushing, shaking.
