Objective
Students will identify common sources of conflict and apply the "Peace Bridge" framework (Listen, Express, Solve) to resolve disagreements using "I" statements.
Duration
45-60 Minutes total, expandable to multiple sessions for deeper role-play practice.

The Construction Site Hook (5 mins)
"Friends, today we are joining the Conflict Crew! Just like a construction crew builds buildings, we are building a peaceful classroom. Sometimes things break or get 'cracked'—that's called a conflict. We are the repair team!"
Ask: "What is a disagreement you've seen lately?" (Keep it general, no names).

Direct Instruction: The Toolbox (15 mins)
Use the Conflict Crew Slides to introduce the three main tools:
Tool 1: Active Listening Looking with eyes, listening with ears, and waiting with mouths.Tool 2: "I" Statements "I feel... when... because... I need..."Tool 3: Brainstorming Finding a "win-win" where everyone feels okay.

Guided Practice: The Peace Bridge (15 mins)
Distribute the Conflict Toolbox Worksheet . Walk students through completing the first "I" statement together as a class using a common scenario (e.g., someone cutting in line).
Teacher Note: For K-1 students, focus on the "I feel ___" part and drawing the solution. For 2-5, focus on the "I need ___" portion.

Activity: Building Bridges (15 mins)
Break students into pairs. Give each pair a Peace Bridge Scenario Card . Have them act out the conflict and then use their "Conflict Crew Tools" to build a bridge to a solution. Circulate and listen for "I" statements.

Closing & Game (Remaining Time)
Gather the crew. Review the steps. Introduce the Blueprint for Peace Game as a station or a Friday reward to reinforce skills.

What is a Conflict?
A conflict is just a "crack" in a friendship.
It happens when people want different things or have different feelings.
It's okay to have conflicts! It's how we fix them that matters.

Find a "Win-Win" solution so Riley can read and Casey can tap.

During a soccer game, Jamie says the ball was out of bounds. Morgan says it was in. They are both getting angry.
Crew Task:
Build a "Peace Bridge" to decide how to restart the game fairly.

The Secret Story
Pat told a secret that Quinn shared in confidence. Now everyone knows, and Quinn feels embarrassed.
Crew Task:
Practice an "I" statement starting with "I feel embarrassed..."

The Partner Pick
The teacher says pick a partner. Two friends both want to work with Charlie. Charlie can only pick one.
Crew Task:
Brainstorm a way for all three to feel included or take turns.
Teacher Instructions
Cut these cards out. Assign one card to each pair. Students should spend 3 minutes discussing their roles and 5 minutes acting out the resolution using the "I" statement formula.
