Super Buddy Teacher Guide Super Buddy Shield
Teacher Facilitation Guide • 10-Minute Lessons
Series Overview
This series is designed for 3-6 year olds to build early self-advocacy and empathy skills. We use the "Super Buddy" metaphor to empower students to handle "mean moments" (bullying) with confidence and kindness.
1
Stop Sign Stand
The Big Idea
Using a "Strong Voice" and a hand signal tells others that their behavior is not okay.
The Script (2 mins)
"Put your hand out like a stop sign."
"Use your brave, strong voice."
"Say: 'STOP. I don't like that.'"
Mini-Activity (5 mins)
Practice the "Stop Hand" while pretending someone is taking a toy without asking. Practice the difference between a "whisper voice," a "yelling voice," and a "strong voice."
2
Buddy Shield Squad
The Big Idea
You don't have to be a superhero to help. Just standing next to a friend makes them feel safe.
The Script (2 mins)
"If you see someone being unkind, walk over."
"Stand by your friend. Say: 'Are you okay?'"
"Invite them to play somewhere else."
Mini-Activity (5 mins)
The "Buddy Huddle": Have two students practice walking together away from a "mean moment" to a "happy spot" (the rug or a specific chair).
3
Help Signal Hero
The Big Idea
Asking for help isn't "tattling"—it's being a hero. Grown-ups are your backup team.
The Script (2 mins)
"Tattling is to get someone in trouble."
"Reporting is to get someone out of trouble."
"Find a teacher. Say: 'I need help feeling safe.'"
Mini-Activity (5 mins)
"Who is your Team?": Identify 3 grown-ups in the school who are "Help Heroes." Practice walking to the door to "find" an adult.
Tip: Keep it fast! These are 10-minute "Micro-Lessons" designed for high engagement and repetitive practice.
