Lesson Flight Path
1
The Spark (5 mins)
Hook the students by asking: "If you could have any superpower, what would it be?" Transition into how school gives us "Brain Superpowers."
2
Visual Journey (15 mins)
Go through the School Quest Slides . Discuss reading, math, social skills, and creative arts as different levels of our quest.
3
Think Tank (10 mins)
Engage with these Discussion Questions:
Why do we need to learn how to read? What can we do once we know?
How does being kind to classmates help us in school?
What is something you learned today that surprised you?
If school didn't exist, how would we learn new things?
4
Power Sort Activity (15 mins)
Students use the School Power Sorting Activity to match school subjects with the "real world" skills they provide.
5
Mission Wrap-Up (5 mins)
Distribute the Growth Spark Exit Ticket . Have students draw or write one thing they are excited to "level up" in.
Pro Tips for Success
"For 1st and 2nd graders, keep the connection concrete. Instead of saying 'socialization is important,' say 'School is where we learn how to be a great teammate and friend!'"

2
Visual Skills Strategy (15 mins)
Review the Mission Mastery Slides . Focus on high-level skills: persuasive writing, data analysis, and advanced collaboration.
3
Critical Analysis (10 mins)
Discussion Questions:
"Which school subject do you think is used most by a software engineer? Why?"
"How does being a good listener help a professional team complete a mission?"
"Think of a problem in your neighborhood. What school skills would you need to help solve it?"

Strategic Reflection (5 mins)
Distribute the Mastery Reflection Ticket . Students write one long-term "Mission" and the skills they need to master first.
Strategic Advice
"Students at this age value logic and utility. Connect 'boring' subjects to cool outcomes (e.g., long division is how an astronaut calculates fuel levels)."

Mission Intelligence:
Read the professional scenarios below. Circle the subject that is most important for the job, then explain your reasoning in the box.
1
The Skyscraper Architect
You are designing a 50-story building. You must ensure the weight of the roof doesn't crush the bottom floors. You need to calculate precisely how much steel and concrete to buy.
History Math P.E.
2
The Video Game Developer
Your new game is ready, but the dialogue is boring. You need to write a script that makes players feel brave, excited, and connected to the hero.
Writing Geography Science
3
The Marine Biologist
A rare group of sea turtles is getting sick. You need to study the ocean water and test for chemicals to figure out exactly what is causing the problem so you can save them.
Art Science Reading
4
The Veterinarian
A puppy has accidentally eaten something toxic. You must calculate the exact dosage of medicine based on its weight and understand how the puppy's body will react to the treatment.
Music Science Social Studies
5
The Military Mission Commander
Your team is delivering supplies after a flood. You must use topographic maps to find a safe route through the mountains and navigate by the stars if your technology fails.

Mission Intelligence
1
Architect → MATH
"Weight calculations and precise measurements for stability."
2
Developer → WRITING
"Scriptwriting and dialogue to engage the player's emotions."
3
Marine Biologist → SCIENCE
"Testing chemicals and studying biological systems."
4
Veterinarian → SCIENCE / MATH
"Understanding anatomy (Science) and calculating medication dosages (Math)."
5
Military Commander → GEOGRAPHY
"Reading topographic maps and navigating challenging terrain."
Evaluation Strategy:
Encourage students to argue for their choice. For instance, in the Veterinarian scenario, if a student circles Science because they want to understand the digestive system, that is correct. If they circle Math (not provided as an option but written in) for the dosage, they are also showing mastery of connecting school to work.
