Pro-Tips for the Counselor
Neutrality: When discussing Mom or the Twin, remain a neutral investigator. Avoid taking sides; focus on the student's *reaction* to the situation.
Validation: Validate the feeling of anger ("It's okay to feel mad") but separate it from the behavior ("It's not okay to hit/scream").
The "Way" Trap: She gets explosive when she doesn't get her way. Focus on "Problem Solving" rather than "Winning or Losing."
Small Wins: Celebrate any time she notices a spark before it becomes a fire, even if she still struggles to calm down.
