True Self-Worth
Why You Truly Matter In Our School
You don't need straight A's, expensive sneakers, or 500 followers to matter.
🎨
Your Unique Brain
Nobody in this school has your exact laugh, your thoughts, your creativity, or your special way of telling a story.
🏫
Your Empty Desk
When you're sick or absent, our classroom feels different. Your presence and energy complete our school family.
🌱
Room to Grow
You don't have to be perfect! Making mistakes and trying again is how every single kid builds strength.
🌟 Big Truth: Your worth was given to you the day you were born—nobody can ever take it away!
Communication Counts
Words Have Real Superpowers
What you say in the hallway, on the bus, or in games sticks in people's minds.
💔
Heavy Words (Tear Down)
- • Teasing someone about their clothes, haircut, or mistakes.
- • Saying "Just kidding!" doesn't erase the hurt feelings.
- • Whispering, gossiping, or leaving a classmate out of group chats.
💖
Lift Words (Build Up)
- • "Hey, come sit with us at lunch today!"
- • "I noticed how hard you worked on that drawing."
- • "Are you doing okay? I'm here if you want to chat."
Before you speak, ask: Is it KIND? Is it TRUE? Is it HELPFUL? 💭
Important Real Talk
When Emotions Are Left Unhandled
What happens when anger or hurt takes over the driver's seat?
⚡ Outcome 1
Broken Friendships
Yelling cruel words or posting mean rumors in a burst of anger can destroy a friendship in 5 seconds that took years to build.
🚫 Outcome 2
Serious Trouble
Lashing out physically, throwing items, or fighting leads to suspensions, losing team sports, missing field trips, and lost trust.
🫙 Outcome 3
The "Bottled-Up" Trap
Stuffing sadness or fear deep inside without asking for help can make kids feel alone, sick, or explode at the wrong time.
🌈 The Good News: You are NEVER stuck. Learning to hit the pause button protects your future!
Brain Science Made Easy
What Happens When Feelings Spike?
Big feelings aren't evil or broken—they are warning lights on your dashboard.
🚨
The Brain Alarm
Your brain has a built-in alarm (the amygdala). When stress strikes, it sounds the siren before your thinking center can catch up!
🌡️
Body Warning Signs
Tight fists, hot ears, racing heartbeat, or butterflies in your stomach. That's your body yelling: "Time to pause!"
🛑
Feelings vs. Choices
Feeling angry is completely normal. Throwing chairs, hitting, or screaming mean words is a choice we can control.
💡 Remember: Emotions are like waves—they rise high, but they always roll back out to sea!
Self-Regulation Power Moves
Your 4-Step Cool-Down Toolkit
Things you can actually do right at your desk or in school when emotions get loud.
🌬️
1. Box Breathing (4-4-4)
Inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale slowly like blowing out birthday candles. Drops your heart rate immediately!
🖐️
2. 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding
Spot 5 colors in the room, touch 4 textures, listen for 3 sounds, take 2 deep breaths, and think of 1 good thing.
🚶
3. Walk & Water Break
Ask to get a cold drink of water or take a quick stretch. Getting physical movement burns off angry energy safely.
🗣️
4. Find a Safe Grown-Up
Tell a teacher, counselor, or parent: "I'm feeling overloaded right now." They are on your team!
⏱️ Golden Rule: You will never regret waiting 10 seconds before replying or reacting!
Making Others Feel Valued
How to Be a "Matter-Maker"
When you make someone else feel seen, you become an everyday hero.
🍱
The Lunchroom Hero
Notice the classmate sitting alone or standing outside the circle at recess? Wave them over: "Want to join us?"
🛡️
Be an Upstander
If someone is being teased, don't laugh along. Say "Hey, stop, that's not cool," and walk with the person.
👂
Real Listening
Put down your tablet, look your friend in the eye, and listen to what they're saying—not just waiting for your turn to talk!
💖 Be the friend you wish you had on your hardest day!

The 3 Big Truths to Take With You
⭐
1. I Matter: My presence, my feelings, and my voice are important.
🛑
2. I Will Pause: When my feelings get fiery or heavy, I will breathe before I react.
🤝
3. You Matter Too: I will use my words to lift my classmates up, never push them down.
