Closing The Pitch: The Winning Ask
Quick guide to ending strong, asking for real backing, and locking in next steps.
Quick Guide
10th Grade Student Version Short & Direct
~20 sec read
“Always end your pitch with The Ask—name the exact money you need and how it’ll grow the company. Then drop a Call to Action, like testing a demo or checking your site, before their hype cools down. Don’t trail off awkwardly—ask directly and confidently. People often freeze and forget to ask for funding, so practice your closing line ahead of time. A strong finish is what turns interest into real investment.”
The 4-Step Pitch Closer Formula
1. The Ask (Be Exact)
Don’t just ask for “support.” State the exact dollar amount and exactly what it funds (e.g., inventory, software build, marketing).
2. The Call to Action (Now)
Give judges an immediate next step—hand them a working prototype, show a QR code, or invite them to test your app on the spot.
3. Direct Delivery (No Fading)
Drop passive words like “we hope maybe.” Make eye contact, stand tall, and deliver your final sentence with complete confidence.
4. Rehearse The Finish (Fix)
Most presenters choke and forget to ask for the money. Memorize and drill your final 15-second closer until it’s automatic.
