Everyone Has a Personal Space Bubble
Picture an invisible, gentle bubble all around your body. That is your personal space. It helps you feel safe, calm, and ready to learn.
When someone pokes, grabs, or touches our clothes, our bubble pops! That can make friends feel startled, crowded, or sad.
My Bubble = Safe
Arms-length space for everyone
Key Rule: My hands belong to my body. When I keep them in my own space, all my friends stay safe and happy!

Where Do My Hands Belong at School?
Here are four important times each day when gentle hands make a big difference!
1 On the Rug
I sit criss-cross applesauce. My hands rest like cozy birds in my lap or wrap gently around my knees.
I do not touch shoes, hair, or classmates' backs.
2 In the Hallway Line
My hands stay quiet by my sides, resting in my pockets, or gently holding my backpack straps.
I leave a safe walking bubble ahead of me.
3 At My Table Spot
My hands work on my own paper and project. If I need a crayon or eraser, I use polite words first.
I never grab materials out of someone's hand.
4 Recess & Playground
Hands are for swings, balls, and climbing safely. In tag games, I give gentle two-finger shoulder tags.
No pushing, pulling shirts, or rough play.
How Do Friends Feel When Hands Stay Gentle?
When everyone respects personal space, classroom friends feel calm, happy, and safe! Color or circle how you feel when someone gives you space:
😊
Safe & Protected "I can focus!"
😌
Calm & Peaceful "My body relaxes."
🤝
Respected "We are good friends!"
Remember: Touching others without permission can hurt or scare them. Gentle hands build friendship!

What If My Hands Feel Wiggly or Excited?
Sometimes our bodies have extra energy. When you feel like touching or poking, try these 4 super tricks!
🐢
1. The Turtle Clasp
Interlace your fingers together and squeeze your own palms firmly for 5 seconds. Breathe in and out.
🦋
2. Butterfly Hug
Cross your arms across your chest like butterfly wings. Gently tap left, right, left, right on your shoulders.
✋
3. Flying Air High-Five
Want to say hello to a friend across the rug? Give them an awesome smile and high-five the air together!
👖
4. Pocket Rest
Slide your hands deep into your pants or jacket pockets, or sit gently on your hands until the wiggle passes.
Use Words Instead of Hands!
When we want something, our voices are much stronger and kinder than our hands. Practice reading these:
Instead of Grabbing:
"May I please have a turn when you are finished?"
Instead of Pushing Past:
"Excuse me, please! I need to walk by."
Instead of Tapping/Poking:
"Look, friend! Can you see what I built?"
