Question #1
"Tell me about yourself."
The Why
What they want: Your background, skills, and fit for this specific role.
What they don't want: Your life story from birth or personal hobbies.
Strategy
Keep it concise (1-2 minutes).
Highlight 2-3 key strengths relevant to the position.
Focus on your future goals.
Teacher Notes: Ask: "Why do they start with this?" (Goal: Ease into the talk while checking communication skills).
Question #2
"What are your strengths?"
The Why
What they want: Self-awareness and how your skills align with the specific job.
What they don't want: A laundry list of unrelated traits or arrogant bragging.
Strategy
Pick strengths that directly benefit the employer.
Provide one quick example of using that strength.
Teacher Notes: Push them beyond generic answers like "I'm hard working." Ask: "How does being hard working help *this* job?"
Question #3
"What are your weaknesses?"
The Why
What they want: Honesty, a growth mindset, and your plan for improvement.
What they don't want: "I have no weaknesses" or "I'm a perfectionist."
Strategy
Choose a minor, real weakness.
Explain exactly how you are fixing/improving it.
Teacher Notes: This is about self-improvement, not self-sabotage. Focus on the "Action Plan" for improvement.
