Duration
30 Minutes
Learning Objective
Students will create a one-day time-blocked plan that prioritizes two important-but-not-urgent tasks, demonstrating an understanding of the Eisenhower Matrix.
Instructional Arc
00-05: Do Now (Where Time Goes)
Students audit their previous 24 hours. The goal is to surface "Time Sinks" versus "Value Tasks" without judgment.
05-12: The Matrix (Urgent vs. Important)
Introduce the Eisenhower Matrix. Focus heavily on Quadrant 2 (Important/Not Urgent) as the "Success Zone" where growth happens.
12-18: Card Sort & Beat the Clock
Rapid classification of tasks. Challenge students to identify which tasks "feel" urgent but aren't actually important.
18-27: The Power Block Plan
Students fill their planner. Requirement: They must schedule two specific "Power Blocks" (Q2 tasks) before anything else.
27-30: Exit Ticket (Two Blocks)
Final commitment. Students identify their two Q2 tasks and the exact time they will start them.

Key Terms
Quadrant 2 Time Blocking Deep Work Urgent vs. Important
The Pro-Tip
"9th graders often confuse 'Urgent' with 'Stressful'. Remind them that a notification is urgent to the phone company, but important only if it's from someone they care about or related to a goal."
Success Criteria
Can distinguish between Q1 and Q2.
Planner has 2 visually distinct blocks for Q2 tasks.
Student can explain why Q2 tasks get postponed.
