Part 3 Focus
Role Play #1 (Structured Scenarios): Partner Task Cards
The BCBA will pair clients and distribute task cards depicting common school situations. The BCBA models the 3-step sequence first: 1. Look at partner, 2. Ask: "Can I help you?", 3. Wait and listen. Clients take turns acting out both roles with BCBA coaching.
5 Scenarios to do with partner:
Role Play #2 (Interactive):
The BCBA will guide the group through an unscripted, dynamic whole-group scenario: "The End-of-Day Art Clean-up Rush."
The BCBA sets up simulated art stations with scraps of paper, paintbrushes, glue sticks, and sorting bins. The BCBA announces: "The bus is arriving in 2 minutes, and our room is messy!" Clients must navigate the room, observe which peer is overwhelmed at their clean-up station, approach them, and ask if they can help with specific chores. If a peer says they have it covered, the helper must pivot to find another teammate. The BCBA pauses the scene intermittently to highlight natural cooperation and empathetic check-ins.
Closure:
The BCBA gathers clients back at the circle rug. Each client shares one helpful thing their partner did during today's session. The BCBA summarizes the two golden rules: 1. Always ask before touching a friend's materials, and 2. Respect a friend's answer whether it is 'yes' or 'no'. Clients review their token boards and celebrate their cooperative team score.
Notes & Additional Activity:
Modifications: For minimally verbal clients, pair the verbal script with a 2x2 PECS / icon card displaying helping hands. For clients who struggle with personal space, mark a 2-foot carpet boundary with tape to practice respectful distance when asking.
Extension: "Secret Helper Mission" — Challenge each client to ask one peer or sibling if they can help with a task at school or home before the next group session, reporting back to earn a bonus team stamp.

Part 3 Focus
Role Play #1 (Structured Scenarios): Partner Task Cards
The BCBA divides clients into pairs and provides Task Cards with realistic school challenges. The BCBA guides partners through behavioral rehearsal emphasizing moderate vocal volume, eye contact, and specific requests.
5 Scenarios to do with partner:
Role Play #2 (Interactive):
The BCBA will guide the group through an unscripted, improvised social simulation: "The Busy Classroom Center Crisis."
The BCBA assigns clients to a fast-paced group workstation (e.g., collating a class book). The BCBA acts as a busy teacher helping another student, while group members must accomplish tasks that require tools they do not have (e.g., one child has no tape, another has upside-down pages, another has dull scissors). Clients must independently identify their barrier, locate a peer who has the resource or knowledge, gain their attention without interrupting rudely, and articulate their request clearly.
Closure:
The BCBA facilitates a 2-minute debrief. Each client answers: "What is one thing you can say when you feel stuck?" The BCBA reinforces that asking for help shows courage and keeps everyone working together smoothly. Clients stamp their token charts for self-advocacy and polite responses.
Notes & Additional Activity:
Modifications: For clients with selective mutism or high social anxiety, teach a 2-step gesture cue: place the "Help Needed" tent card upright on the desk and touch partner's sleeve gently. Fade prompt to whispered request.
Additional Activity: "Help Relay" — Clients must pass a baton with complex clasps down the line; each client must ask the next teammate for assistance opening the clasp before running to the finish line.

Part 3 Focus
Role Play #1 (Structured Scenarios): Partner Task Cards
The BCBA introduces 5 structured partner cards simulating common high-conflict elementary school situations. Partners rehearse asking, waiting calmly with hands quiet, and passing items smoothly.
5 Scenarios to do with partner:
Role Play #2 (Interactive):
The BCBA guides clients through an unscripted whole-group role-play: "The Crowded Free-Play Game Table."
The BCBA places a popular 2-player board game (e.g., Connect 4 or Jenga) on the table with 4 clients present. The clients must negotiate who plays round 1, establish who keeps score or acts as referee, set a fair timer for the next players, and smoothly transition players in and out without arguments or tears. The BCBA steps back and only intervenes if physical grabbing occurs, prompting clients to use their verbal negotiation strategies.
Closure:
The BCBA brings everyone to the circle rug. Each client identifies one peer who shared nicely with them during the mural or role-play. The BCBA reviews the key rule: "Waiting for your turn shows patience, and sharing shows you care about your team." Clients tally their session tokens and celebrate team success.
Notes & Additional Activity:
Modifications: For clients with high impulsivity or difficulty with delayed gratification, provide a tangible tactile waiting object (e.g., fidget squishy or visual countdown ring) while waiting for their turn.
Additional Activity: "Pass the Rhythm" — In a circle, clients pass a clapping or percussion pattern one by one; each child must wait strictly for their turn to maintain the cooperative team beat.

Part 3 Focus
Role Play #1 (Structured Scenarios): Partner Task Cards
The BCBA distributes Scenario Task Cards focusing on active listening and executing peer directions in classroom contexts. Partners practice the Listen & Echo routine.
5 Scenarios to do with partner:
Role Play #2 (Interactive):
The BCBA facilitates an interactive whole-group simulation: "The Secret Castle Relay Build."
The BCBA divides the group into two teams. The leader of each team is secretly shown a miniature castle structure hidden behind a folder. The leader must run back to their group and describe step-by-step how to recreate the structure using verbal instructions only (no touching the blocks). Teammates must listen actively, ask clarifying questions ("Does the cone go on the left or right?"), repeat the instructions, and construct the castle together. The BCBA awards bonus tokens for calm questions and active listening postures.
Closure:
The BCBA gathers clients in the closing circle. Each client shares: "One time my partner listened really well to me today was when..." The BCBA reinforces that listening builds trust between friends. Clients total their teamwork points and earn their daily session badge.
Notes & Additional Activity:
Modifications: For clients with auditory processing delays or working memory challenges, provide visual step cards (Step 1, Step 2 icons) so verbal directions are immediately supported with concrete visual references.
Additional Activity: "Simon Says with a Teammate" — Clients can only perform the action if both teammates verify and do the movement simultaneously, encouraging shared attention and synchronous movement.

Part 3 Focus
Role Play #1 (Structured Scenarios): Partner Task Cards
The BCBA facilitates structured partner rehearsals using 5 common school conflict cards. Partners practice taking deep breaths, speaking in a calm tone, and applying one of the 4 compromise tools.
5 Scenarios to do with partner:
Role Play #2 (Interactive):
The BCBA leads an open-ended group simulation: "The Team Mascot & Celebration Vote."
The BCBA announces that the social skills group has earned a special celebration party, but there are only two options: an ice cream sundae station or an extra playground obstacle party. Furthermore, the group must pick ONE official team name and animal mascot. The BCBA steps back while clients navigate the debate. If tensions rise, the BCBA holds up the visual "Calm Check" card. Clients must independently propose compromises (e.g., eating popsicles outside on the playground, combining animal mascots into the "Eagle-Tigers").
Closure:
The BCBA leads a celebration circle. Each client completes the prompt: "Today I showed compromise when I..." The BCBA highlights how much the group has grown across all 5 themes: offering help, asking for help, sharing turns, active listening, and calm compromise. Clients receive their Teamwork Champions graduation ribbon!
Notes & Additional Activity:
Modifications: For clients with black-and-white thinking or rigid rule-following, introduce the "Size of the Problem" scale (Small glitch vs. Medium problem vs. Big emergency) to teach that minor conflicts only require small, flexible compromises.
Additional Activity: "The Two-Headed Monster Drawing" — Two clients hold a single marker at the same time and must draw a picture together without talking, relying entirely on visual cooperation and physical compromise.
