Part 1
The Mirror Desync Challenge (8 Mins)
Objective: Experience firsthand how break-downs in focus, sync, and body language affect the whole group, and how non-verbal leadership can restore harmony.
How to Run It:
- Dancers partner up, standing chest-to-chest.
- Partner A leads slowly; Partner B mirrors exactly.
- The Twist: Call out "Lag Time!". Partner B must now intentionally delay movements by 2 full seconds.
- Call "Sync!" to return to instant, clean connection.
The Debrief Question:
"When there is lag or lack of focus on the studio floor, how does it affect your partner's energy? What happens to the overall picture?"
💡 Takeaway: A team's synchronization requires 100% presence. One person "lagging" throws off the whole choreo.
Part 2
Pillar 1: Supporting the Spotlight (12 Mins)
🗣️ Say This (Word-for-Word Script):
"Being a great teammate means your support doesn't depend on your placement. When a cast list or solo assignment comes out and your friend gets the part you wanted, it is completely normal to feel disappointed. But sportsmanship means we separate our disappointment from our actions. True leaders are the first to run up, hug their teammate, and say, 'I am so proud of you, you're going to crush this!' Celebrating another person's shine never dims your own."
Interactive Discussion Prompts:
Scenario: Solo Selection
Your closest friend gets the spotlight solo. How do you balance feeling disappointed for yourself while being genuinely happy for them?
Scenario: Side-Line Whispering
Other teammates are complaining about who got center placement. How does a leader handle or shut down that side-line chatter?

Part 3
Pillar 2: Constructive Peer Feedback (12 Mins)
1
Highlight
Point out a specific dynamic element they nailed.
2
Refine
Offer a visual tip (e.g., extensions, clean line).
3
Uplift
Remind them of their unique strength or energy.
🗣️ Say This:
"We perform best when we feel safe to fail on the studio floor. If you correct someone with a harsh tone, their muscles tighten and they get self-conscious. But if we use constructive feedback, we help them grow without breaking their spirit. Try to notice what they are doing right before you suggest an edit."
Part 4
Pillar 3: Grace & Good Sportsmanship (10 Mins)
Key Objective: Teach dancers how to navigate external pressure and represent their studio with integrity during competitions, particularly when other teams win.
When Another Studio Wins:
When another team takes the overall championship trophy, true leaders stand up, clap sincerely, and smile. We never roll our eyes, check our phones, or whisper to friends. We celebrate their hard work.
Backstage Respect:
How we behave off-stage defines us. Instruct dancers to make eye contact and say "Good luck!" or "Great job!" to other dancers in the hallways and dressing rooms. Respect the competition crew and backstage staff.
The "Sync and Shine" Pledge
CLOSING RITUAL (3 MINS)
Gather the team into a tight huddle. Have them cross arms and hold hands. Read the team commitment together:
"We are only as strong as our deepest connection. We lift, we sync, and together, we shine."

Ready to elevate? Let's go. Active Crew Mode
Phase 1
The Teammate Test
Pillar: Supporting the Spotlight
🔥 Group Dilemma
"The new competition cast list is posted. Your best friend gets the coveted center spotlight role you spent months practicing for. You are in the back row."
The Teammate Rule: True champions celebrate their friends' success as if it were their own.
Choose Your Response:
A: The Immediate Cheer
You immediately run over, hug them, and say, "I am so incredibly proud of you! You are going to crush this!"
B: The Backstage Builder
You manage your private disappointment with a deep breath, and offer to help them practice their turns backstage.

Phase 2
The Feedback Lab
Pillar: Motivation & Encouragement
LIVE PARTNER DRILL
Uplifting Your Crew
As a great teammate, your feedback must build confidence, not take it away. Practice the "Highlight, Polish, Catalyst" loop:
1
The Highlight
Point out an authentic strength: "Your dynamic hit in the chorus is so crisp!"
2
The Polish
Offer a cooperative tip: "If we snap our wrists on count 4, we'll look perfectly in sync."
3
The Catalyst
Inspire them to lock it in: "Your stage presence is amazing. Keep pushing it!"
⚡ Pair up with your neighbor and test this live on each other! (60 Seconds)
Focus: Keep tone positive, body open, eyes connected. Slide 3 of 6
Phase 3
The Pressure Cooker
Pillar: Coping with Pressure
Stage Slip-up
Supporting Through Mistakes
Mid-routine, a teammate completely drops a double turn and slips onto the stage. The judges are staring directly at your group.
💡 GOOD TEAMMATE PROTOCOL:
No sighs, eye rolls, or frustrated faces. Keep your energy high, smile, and pull them back into sync with a reassuring, brief look of support.
