Sharing Stone Leader Guide
Sharing Stone Guide
A 20-Minute Kindness Ritual
Age Group
3–5 Years
20 Minutes
1 Found Stone
Core: Kindness
1
Find the Heart (3 min)
Before starting the circle, have the group go on a quick "treasure hunt" to find a special stone. It should be small enough for a 3-year-old to hold but large enough to feel solid.
Leader Script: "Today, we are looking for a very special stone. It’s going to hold our kindness today. Can everyone help me find one smooth, beautiful rock?"
2
Round 1: Heart Sharing (7 min)
Sit in a circle. Explain that whoever holds the stone is the speaker, and everyone else is a "Kind Listener."
- Prompt: "What is your favorite part of camp?" OR "What makes you happy?"
- After each child speaks, the whole group says: "Thank you for sharing!"
Tip: If a child is shy, ask them to simply show the stone to the group and everyone still chants "Thank you for sharing!"
3
Round 2: Kindness Pledges (7 min)
Pass the stone around a second time. This round is for action!
- Prompt: "What is one kind thing you want to do for a friend today?"
- Examples: Sharing a toy, giving a high-five, helping clean up.
- Group Response: "We can't wait to see your kindness!"
4
The Special Spot (3 min)
As a group, decide on a "Kindness Spot" in your cabin or activity area to place the stone for the rest of the summer.
Leader Closing: "This is now our group's Kindness Stone. Whenever you feel like being extra kind, come look at our stone to remember our circle today."
Leader Tip: Modeling
Go first! Show the kids how to hold the stone gently and speak clearly. Use an exaggerated "listening ear" pose.
Keep it Moving
If a child takes a long time, gently place your hand on the stone with them and help them find a word. Keep the energy high!
