Activities & Rubric
3 Guided Practice: The Remote Control Game (10 Minutes)
Interactive Play
A
Round 1 (Teacher Controls): Teacher holds up the visual slide or large flashcard. When green PLAY shows, students dance in place. When red PAUSE flashes, students freeze mid-wiggle for 3 full seconds.
B
Round 2 (Speed Shifts): Introduce the SLOW-MO button. Students stomp like giant dinosaurs in slow motion, then instantly hit PAUSE when the chime sounds.
C
Round 3 (Student Bosses): Invite a student volunteer to act as the "Remote Captain" pressing button cards while peers respond accurately and safely.
Support & Accommodations
For High Energy Learners: Provide tactile cue cards on desks or taped to floor spots.
Sensory Variations: Allow seated pausing (cross legs and hands in lap) for motor fatigue.
ELL Learners: Accompany every verbal cue with the universal physical hand gesture (stop palm, walk fingers).
Daily Classroom Routines
Hallway Transition: Call out "Switch remote to Slow-Mo Ninja mode!"
Clean-Up Alarm: Use "Pause first, eyes to me, then Play clean-up!"
Rug Attention: Say "Check your remote: are your ears on high volume?"
