5-Minute Reset
Take a Cozy Breath
Let’s slow our bodies down, give our brains a quiet break, and get ready for a great day.
Sit criss-cross or flat in your chair. Hands softly in your lap.

Body Relax
1
Squeeze Tight!
Make fists like you are squeezing sweet lemons! Scrunch your nose, shrug your shoulders up to your ears!
Hold tight: 3... 2... 1...
2
Melt & Let Go!
Ahhh! Open your fingers. Drop your shoulders down soft and warm like cozy melted pudding.
Feel your muscles turn all soft and loose.
Let out a gentle sigh: "Ahhhhh." We do this twice!
Soft & Loose

Our feet are on the floor. We are right here, safe in our classroom.
Minute 5
You Are Calm & Ready!
Ready to Learn
Say It in Your Head or Whisper Out Loud:
✨ "My body is calm."
🧠 "My brain is ready."
💛 "I can do my best."
Give your teacher a silent thumbs up when you are ready to transition!

Quiet Cloud Reset: Teacher Guide
5 Minutes Total
Use after active transitions (recess, lunch, PE) or during moments of collective or individual dysregulation. Speak in a low, gentle, steady cadence. Model each movement directly.
Minute-by-Minute Script & Action Sequence
0:00 - 1:00 Weather Check
Step 1: Low-Stakes Body State Labeling
"Friends, let's bring our bodies to rest. Notice what kind of weather is inside you right now. Are you sunny, breezy, rainy, or stormy? Any weather is welcome. Place a gentle hand on your heart."
Teacher Tip: Validate all feelings; do not pressure students to say they are happy.
1:00 - 2:00 Star Breath
Step 2: Five-Finger Sensory Breathing
"Spread one hand out like an open star. Take your pointer finger on the other hand. Trace UP as you smell the flower (inhale 3s)... hold at the top... trace DOWN as you blow out warm soup (exhale 3s)."
Teacher Tip: Trace slowly. Count aloud quietly: 1-2-3 in, 1-2-3 out. Repeat across all 5 fingers.
2:00 - 3:00 Squeeze & Melt
Step 3: Somatic Progressive Muscle Release
"Make super tight lemon fists! Scrunch your nose, shrug your shoulders up to your ears! Squeeze all that wiggly energy tight for 3... 2... 1... and MELT! Let your hands fall open like soft pudding. Ahhhhh."
Teacher Tip: Repeat twice. Emphasize the dramatic contrast between tension and release.
3:00 - 4:00 3-2-1 Ground
Step 4: Detective Sensory Anchor
"Let's be classroom detectives. Look with your eyes and notice 3 blue or green things. Now gently touch 2 things (hands on your knees or desk). Now freeze and listen for 1 quiet sound in our room."
Teacher Tip: Gives dysregulated brains immediate present-moment sensory anchoring.
4:00 - 5:00 Re-entry
Step 5: Affirmation & Calm Transition
"Whisper with me: 'My body is calm. My brain is ready. I can do my best.' When you feel ready to learn, show me your quietest thumbs up."
Teacher Tip: Acknowledge thumbs-up non-verbally with warm eye contact and a gentle nod.
Trauma-Informed Co-Regulation
• Voice modulation: Lower your volume and slow your tempo; children mirror teacher arousal levels.
• No forced participation: Allow students who feel resistant to sit quietly with eyes open and listen.
• Physical proximity: Crouch to child eye level rather than hovering over standing desks.
Differentiated Supports
• Kinesthetic Seekers: Provide a squishy ball during the Lemon to Pudding squeeze step.
