Teacher Facilitation Guide
How to run the 10-Minute Reaction Replay
Pacing (10 Minutes Total)
- 2 Mins: Intro the "Pause Power" Slide Deck. Focus on the "Lag" concept.
- 3 Mins: Complete the "Choice Control Worksheet" (identify triggers).
- 5 Mins: Reaction Replay Role-Play using the cards.
Facilitation Tips for ODD
Do:
- Frame self-regulation as "keeping your power."
- Let the student choose which card to play first.
- Praise the *strategy*, not the compliance.
- Use the gamer terminology (XP, Level Up, Lag).
Avoid:
- Lecturing on "why rules matter."
- Forcing a role-play if the student resists.
- Using "should" or "have to" statements.
- Correcting small behaviors during the role-play.
The "Pause Power" Script
"When someone pushes your buttons, they are trying to play your game for you. Every time you hit the PAUSE button, you take the controller back. You win because YOU decided what happens next, not them."
