Why This Matters

"Good morning, everyone! Today we're going to talk about something really important: our bodies! Who can show me how they wiggle their fingers? How about stomping your feet?"
"That's right, our bodies can do so many amazing things! And guess what? Your body belongs to YOU . You are the boss of your body!"
"Let's play a quick game. I'm going to say some things, and you can give a thumbs up for 'yes' if it's a touch you like, and a thumbs down for 'no' if it's a touch you don't like or makes you feel funny. Ready?"

"What are some touches that make us feel good and safe? Think about a hug from your family, or a high-five from a friend. These are all safe touches . They make us feel happy, loved, and comfortable."

"Now, sometimes, a touch might not feel good. It might make you feel uncomfortable, scared, sad, or confused. These are called unsafe touches ."
